Foggy and Two Capes

What a difference a few days makes - this is my light at 7:30am.
It's hard to see the colours in my outfits when it's getting darker in the mornings. Daylight Savings Time will be over in just over a week, which will help for a little while.

  • Blouse - Lord & Taylor, consignment; last worn here in March with gold leather pants
  • Skirt - J. Crew, thrifted; last seen here in February (with the same shoes!)
  • Shoes - Room 502 Entrance, Fluevog; last worn here in February, same time as the skirt!
  • Cape (below) - Coracle Clothes, vintage 60s, pass-along from Sheila A; last seen here in March

This was my view from those stairs this morning. Something's missing in the fog!
Where is the Castle? It should be on the right between the two tallest trees.

On to the outfit! I was excited to have this lovely blouse back. It's a blouse! It's a cape! It's a cape-blouse!
I felt very Dramatic all day.

The bottom half of my outfit is one of my favourite specific formulas: these purple shoes, these purple tights and a funky mini-skirt or short dress. Check it out here, here,  here, and here (great with the coat in that outfit) previously!
The skirt is a couple sizes too big on me, but it's such luxurious fabric (it's necktie silk), and I don't mind it being a little lower on my waist and closer to my knees.

And since the cape-blouse doesn't work tucked into anything, so this was a match made in matchy heaven.
You can tell I'm feeling this outfit. Matchy!

So of course, I had to go even more matchy with my outerwear. Double cape time!
It's fedora weather again! I have a nice collection of them; they're fun as long as it's not windy.

  • Fedora - vintage, thrifted
  • Gloves - Danier Leather

I lost these gloves and was distraught - I love the wonderful purple leather. Imagine my delight at finding them neatly folded up in the cape pockets! Hurray!

I love this cape, and it was nicely warm, although I regretted my mostly bare arms. Brrr!
I'm talking to Vizzini - he's watching me.
Capes are also tricky with bags. I had to wear my shoe bag and my cross-body purse under the cape, which leads to some interesting bulges.

The stuff:
I always feel like Prince when I wear these shoes. They are wonderfully comfy.

Shiny bling:
I built this outfit around the new-to-me Swarovski cuff, one of my birthday presents from L. It was so sparkly!

  • Cuff - Swarovski, gift from L
  • Earrings - vintage store, c. 1997
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

  1. Lovely to see a Welsh Wool cape in Canada and a fab blue one at that! The handbag situation can be a bit tricky with them as can what to do with your arms when you're posing for a photo - I always end up looking like a Tyrannosaurus Rex!
Love that cape blouse with the silk skirt, a math made in heaven. x

    1. It's a beauty, isn't it, Vix? The colours are blue, green and purple in it. Yes, arg, so impractical, really! Ha, little T-Rex arms - just what we wanted. Thank you!

  2. For the last two weeks, I noticed a difference in the light on Monday, wondering how this could be in only a couple of days. That fog looks properly thick, if the castle has become invisible! Now, to your outfit: you look like a proper super heroine with your two cape outfit. And while I love the top, I'm totally smitten with your Welsh wool cape! Love the Prince shoes and your purple tights, and what a relief you found those gloves tucked away in the cape pockets. I can be quite heartbroken if I loose any of my favourite things! xxx

    1. We are nearly on the same latitude, Ann - I just checked! It's such a shock when it starts to get darker. I love the cape too -it's such a scene-stealer. I was so relieved to find the gloves again!

  4. Double cape ! that's a new one for me. I love capes and that top is so very cool.
I tried on a blazer cape and did not know what to do with my hands. It as odd. I could not put a a bag on my shoulder and found myself constrained so i did not buy it.

    1. I know, I'm such a trend-setter - ha! The blouse was fine to work in, but yeah, the cape is severely restricting and not very practical to wear with a purse. You can't wear purses over them, only underneath.

  5. The double cape is a new syndrome to me. In fact I don't own one cape, never mind two. Great styling all the way with this though, right the way to the Fedora - cute! Perhaps you could enlist a boy scout to carry your bag next time, hahaha!

    1. Hee, I have a syndrome. I love the idea of them, though. I totally need a boy scout minion! Thanks, Anna!
