This outfit had such a huge reaction at work today, that I'm still a little in shock. I guess I look like a grown-up...at least from the waist up!
From the waist down, I'm all "Yeah, I'm 50, got a problem with that?"- Blazer - Vivienne Westwood Red Label, thrifted; purchased here on the weekend for $27.99 (yes, you read that right)
- White shirt - no label, thrifted; last seen here in October layered under baby blue Badgley
- Skirt - Banana Republic, thrifted; last worn here in March 2012 for shopping and Elton John concerting
- Shoes - Room 502 Entrance, Fluevog; last seen here in October with a mod outfit (same tights!)
- Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) last weekend
It's the blazer. Totally corporate, a fantastic fit on me, and then the classic white shirt. I had a meeting with the new property manager of our new office, so I wanted to make a good impression.
This blazer was really a joy to wear. I made every fashionable person in the office feel the quality of the wool, flashed the holy hand grenade lining to all, and left mouths agape when I told them how much I found it for.
I think this piece actually has some age on it. It feels very high-end, and I haven't seen much of this length of blazer for a long time. Maybe early 00s?
I love a short skirt with a long jacket (and the Cake song of the same name, YouTube link here 'cause I love the band) - it's corporate on the top, rebel on the bottom! Every time I wear this fabulous shiny metallic leopard mini I feel like a million bucks. Please remind me of this post if I ever start eyeing it for the giveaway pile.
This proportion works well on me.
Jacket done up. Gawd, just a gorgeous piece. I'm boggled by it.
Outerwear. I didn't wear the "full Monty" for my meeting, just the coat, open over the outfit and the purple gloves.
That my gloves, tights and shoes all match fills my heart with delight.- Head-wrap thing - thrifted
- Fur boa - thrifted
- Gloves - Danier
The stuff:
I love these purple swagger-monster shoes. I clomp around the office in them, large and in charge.
Sparkly bling:
It was more noticeable in person, but my little vintage sparkly necklace peeked out from under the shirt.
- Necklace - Allain, vintage 50s, gift from Allison
- Earrings - don't rememeber
- Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
woaa, I love your blazer, such a cool shape and those pockets lapels look so edgy!, and also love your leopard skirt and purple shoes!, such an awesome combo!. You look elegant, professional and cool with a fabulous attitude!

Thank you! I had so much fun wearing this and that's really what it's all about.
DeleteI love this outfit Sheila - it's so you! Perfectly professional for work yet still so incredibly fun. I can see why it got such a big positive reaction at work :)
ReplyDeleteMe too, thanks, Mica! It's just my sweetspot.
DeleteI love all the purple in this outfit, Sheila! The tights, gloves and shoes are fab together! The skirt is amazing too. I also love Cake! (The band and the food! Haha!) XXX
ReplyDeleteYes, fellow Cake fan! Thank you, Sasha!
DeleteLove the matching purple gear! The blazer is even better on, no wonder you got so many compliments. But the star of the outfit for me must be that totally awesome skirt. Surely you will never be tempted to put it on the giveaway pile! Rebel on the bottom, yes indeed! xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's so fun, isn't it? I had to have it as soon as I saw it.
DeleteThat jacket is a knockout. I love the equestrian details. It's great with the mini! I think it would also look slick with slim pants and tall boots to play up the horsy vibe. (My teenage daughter spends half her life at the barn, so I have plenty of experience with the hunter-jumper look!) xx Velma
ReplyDeleteThanks, Velma! Oh, I like the idea of doing an equestrian look!
DeleteFits you like a glove! What a great find.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Charlotte!
DeleteTotally in love with this sweet look topped off with clomping kick ass pumps. ❤️ Yes!
ReplyDeleteMwah, thank you, sweetheart - you Winesday gals bought me these last year!
DeleteOMG, just amazing and fun outfit for work. Purple, sparkles, boots and that blazer. You look spectacular!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much - I felt spectacular!
DeleteThat is a great outfit, the leopard skirt and funky purple tights are perfect with the divine tailored blazer. Dame Viv would approve.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your hair up, you look so pretty. xxx
Awe, thanks, Vix, that means a lot! I'm having fun having long hair again.
DeleteOh my goodness. That ensemble is perfection! The jacket is unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda! I'm in total lurve with the jacket.
DeleteYes, I think the 80s is right for that fabulous jacket. High quality speaks for itself and the hand of such a garment is a wondrous thing. Love it paired with the short skirt and classic white blouse... a fabulous outfit for any occasion. Love the purple gloves too !

It's a total classic - I've never had anything so nice. You really can tell when you find quality - it's all in the hand! Thank you, Elle!
DeleteI do think that blazer is from 2000's or even late 90's- its a marvellous piece, it has an amazing cut.
ReplyDeleteI think it's late 90s - it's just so gorgeous, even better in person!
DeleteAwesome outfit, from top to toe! The proportions are perfect on you, and I like the "Business on the top, party on the bottom". Great score on the Westwood blazer. It's a classic cut with some extra style. I found a pair of Vivienne Westwood label jeans when I was at Talize in early November. They need to be shortened, but I'm looking forward to wearing them.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! Ooh, nice find for you - I hope you post them on your blog at some point!
