Bold Plaid and Blue Shoes

I'll keep doing stair pics for as long as I can, but for now they're all slightly gloomy.
And I must apologize - I'm in one of those "lows" where I just don't have the energy to respond to comments, and I know I'm behind on reading/commenting on my friends' blogs. Thank you for understanding.

  • Leather jacket - Michael Kors, consignment; last seen here in March under this same poncho
  • Top - J. Crew, thrifted; last worn here in May with a very spring-y skirt
  • Skirt - Zara, consignment; last seen here in November 2022 with red boots and a black jacket
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) in April with leopard pants
  • Poncho (below) - Bodybag By Jude, consignment, gift from L; last seen here (4th outfit) in April

The best thing I can do for myself is to use colour and my clothes to help improve my mental health.
Even if I'm literally a bit blurry...

I adore this bold plaid skirt - it has lines of blue and red in it, so I've always done those as the matchy/contrast colours.
I also didn't get to wear this awesome studded leather jacket much last year (I bought it late in the season).

Swoon! The studs go all the way around, even on the back of the neck.
And they don't snag my hair, bonus.

Outerwear - more big plaid!
I don't usually wear capes or ponchos during my work-week, as they look odd with my backpack (used for carrying my good shoes to/from work).

Incognito. Eh, didn't care that much about that today - it rained all day.
My arms are hiding under the fleece-backed fabric in the secret pocket.

Accoutrements:
Same old things - I wear my favourites to death!

  • Beret - consignment
  • Scarf - Halston, vintage 70s, thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
Big blue shoes! I ran all over the office today, up and down ladders, up and down many flights of stairs. I promise softer shoes tomorrow, Feet.

Silver and blue bling:
Bold pieces for bright colours.

  • Belt - Karen Millen, thrifted
  • Sterling silver hinged cuff - vintage, thrifted, Powell River
  • Silver/gold bracelet - JPL, vintage fair
  • Kyanite/silver ring - consignment
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Ball earrings - thrifted

  1. Your blog picks me up when my mood is low energy, and I am imagining that this is true not just for me. Hopefully our comments reciprocate and help to boost your low energy. Somehow, even though it’s all in the virtual world, your blog posts and reader’s comments make it feel like we are gathering for a nourishing cup of [fill in your favorite beverage] while sprawled comfortably in a shared space having a relaxed conversation. :)

Love the pops of blue in your shoes and blouse!! And the combining of the plaids for your skirt and cape! Also appreciate your patterned stockings. Very classy!

    Cheers, Laurie

  4. I'm hearing you on lacking the energy to respond to comments. I did a catch-up a couple of weeks ago, and now I'm behind yet again! Also hearing you on the "lows" ...
Your outfit, however, is a definite mood booster! Loving all the colours and the double dose of plaid! xxx

  6. Hello Sheila,
Thanks for your blog, which I read a lot-love your clothes, cat, and stories of your life in BC. I'm also a Fluevog collector, although my collection pales in comparison. Really love those Warhols, which I don't have but can admire from afar.
Anyway, I haven't commented until now, but as I've sat here enjoying it all, I felt it was time to say hello and thank you for creating this, and I hope the blues are gone soon.
    Stephanie

  7. I think Laurie and Stephanie have hit the nail on the head - even if you don't feel like you have any energy for all that extra blog world stuff, just seeing your lovely outfits and smiling face gives people all around the world a boost. So rest up, spend energy on what you can in the moment, and don't worry about blog land. We will always love you and your blog Sheila! :)
