Another sweltering day today, with temps in the low 30s. Time to wear one of my lightest dresses.
This dress is a Dots find, from a few years ago - it's cotton lawn, very light and breathable.I've worn this dress six times since I bought in August 2020 - it's a go-to for hot weather.
The waistband slants at an angle.

And the front is an asymmetrical wrap-around.
I wore a full vintage nylon slip with this to keep the cotton from creeping around - I got rid of the cotton slip it came with immediately.

I anchored my slip's straps with the ribbon/snaps sewn into the shoulders.
That's a rare detail nowadays.

Amber bling:
First outing of my new-to-me thrifted amber pendant, which I put on a silver chain that I've had since I was a young teen. It originally had a miniature flute on it (I played for several years).

Oh you look comfortable in this dress! The pattern speaks to cool airy summer breezes. I enjoyed clicking back in time to see each time you wore the dress.
ReplyDeleteCheers from a rainy overcast NY,
Laurie
It was lovely to wear, Laurie - I adore cotton and other light, natural fabrics when the heat is on. Oh, I'm so glad you clicked through - lots of shoe variety! Sending you warm summer ocean breezes!
DeleteYay for cool jammy dresses! Cool in both senses of the word. I too wore a jammy dress today and happened to bump into an old work mate "ooh I like that dress" if only she knew how easy it was to just throw on my jammy dress but hey I'll take it. I am loving the new amber pendant too! Shazx
ReplyDeleteI'll second that, Shaz! Thank you! I love that you wore a Jammy Dress - they are so much easier and cooler than athletic wear, plus we look fabulous in them! Rock on!
DeleteVery nice! Would be lovely to wear with trousers too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nancy - I would not wear trousers with this unless they were silk or nylon, as teh cotton lawn fabric is very thin and clingy. Not all dresses work layered!
DeleteWhat a gorgeous dress, Sheila! Also loving the amber bling and of course snakeskin is totally a neutral! xxx
ReplyDeleteI knew you would agree, Ann! Thank you!
DeleteLovely dress, it looks really lightweight and summery, and comfort is first (in my book!), but also stylish!, and love that amber jewellery, so cool!
ReplyDeleteOf course Snakeskin is a neutral! and leopard print goes with anything (my mom says so!).
besos
Thank you! It's so light and airy! Hey, if your mom says it, it has to be true!
DeleteWhat an amazing dress! I love your accessories as well!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love the asymmetric hemline, so pretty. That print would make fabulous wallpaper, I could look at it all day. xxx
ReplyDeleteSo agree - I would have it in my loo! Thank you, Vix!
