A Sparkly Day

Today's outfit is based around this new-to-me sparkly sweater that I picked up last week.
As I put the clothing, shoes and the accessories together, I started leaning into the sparkle. It's going to be a sparkly day!

  • Sweater - Luisa Cerano, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
  • Sleeveless shirt - Denver Hayes, consignment; last seen here in June for the Day of Indolence
  • Skirt - Ted Baker, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here in March with some velvets
  • Shoes - Sol Sana; last seen here (2nd outfit) in July with grommeted leather

I walked around the office, checking in on my colleagues, saying hello, touching base, and of course, showing off my outfit.
My coworker Chris helpfully informed me that my sweater was tucked into my skirt on one side.

"It's on purpose!" It keeps the proportions right - if I'd worn the sweater untucked, I would have looked unbalanced.
This gives me some shape and keeps things interesting.

I layered a sleeveless pink shirt under the loose-knit sweater for extra pizzazz.
The dull putty colour was offset by all the soft pinks and blues.

Incognito.
No one will ever know it's me.

The stuff:
We're nearing September, which is the last month of my spring/summer wardrobe, most of which is packed away for 6 months of the year. These velvet shoes are no good in wet weather, even though I rarely venture outside in them.

Blue bling:
Even my jewelry is seasonal - I put away most of the pastels.

  • Scarf - thrifted
  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Brooch - vintage, vintage fair
  • Earrings - Sherman, vintage 1950s, thrifted
  • Crystal cuff - Swarovski, consignment, gift from L
  • Bracelet - Coro, vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

Vizzini threw himself to the floor in my closet last night while I was picking my outfit.
"You should rub my tummy, Woman."

I cannot resist such cuteness!

  4. His adorableness looks like he has on 2 pearly white slippers! Ha, I probably see that because just beyond are your red slip-ons, so of course Vizzini is wearing slippers. ;-)

Between the soft colors and patterning of your skirt, the sparkliness of the top, the blues of your jewelry and the softness of the velvet shoes, your outfit has me thinking of a gentle summer-to-fall evening sky. Mmm. :-)

    Cheers,
    Laurie

    1. Don't you love those little white feet? So cute!

Thanks so much, Laurie! I've actually compared the skirt's pattern to a fall sunset before.

  5. I'm loving the muted colours, sparkle and proportions of this outfit, Sheila! Can't believe we're about to enter the last month of your Spring/Summer wardrobe! Where does the time go? I for one haven't even worn a fraction of this season's clothes, which probably means I've got too many of them :-) Aww, look at Vizzini helping you choose! xxx

    1. I know, Ann, where did that time go?? I'm just getting to the point where I want to wear things a second time, and I'm not going to be able to! Vizzini, ever so helpful, lol.

  6. I love your new sparkly sweater. Beautiful pattern pencil skirt and shoes as well.
I always love your accessories and jewelry. In this outfit in particular. Gorgeous necklace and earrings. The long necklace gives such chic vibes to this look. It makes me think of art deco and the jazz era fashion.

    1. Thank you, Ivana! I pick out my jewelry after the outfit, usually. I love long necklaces because they remind me of the 1920s flapper/deco/jazz era fashion.

  7. The colour and texture combination gave me a very soothed feeling Sheila, such a lovely look. And thanks for the tip about the side tuck-in, that’s a great one for trying to maintain the one third to two thirds proportion rule with mid-length tops!

  8. A very matchy matchy outfit, which I love. I only change my clothes when it's really too cold to wear summer clothes. But that will probably not take long. Enjoy the weekend.

    1. Lol, I still love my matchy-matchy, Nancy. I like a defined end to each season, so that I don't get lazy and just...not switch my closet over!
