Big Poppies and Adios Adidas

We're having a hot week, my friends - temps up in the mid-30s! I'm trying to dress cool.
Silk, loose culottes and bare legs.

  • Silk blouse - Max Mara, vintage 90s, thrifted; last seen here in September 2022 with orange pants
  • Culottes - Adidas, consignment, Vancouver; first worn here in April with blue and a jungle blazer
  • Sandals - Faith Low Reumah, Fluevog; last seen here in July 2022 with red and copper

My view of the Castle this morning.
Including the seagull (hi, Bert!) chortling at me as I clambered around on the stairs.

Colleague Carol-Anne loved this silk blouse with its big poppies.
It's baggy on me, but I didn't want it touching anything (I had a slim camisole on underneath) in case I sweated on it.

I nearly made it all the way home, and then I was enveloped in a wet glow.
While I like the idea of these Adidas culottes, the fabric is gross (like basketball shorts, yuck).

And they do NOTHING for my bum. I even took two pictures in case it was my posing - nope! they both looked the same.
I do a lot of exercise (bridges, dead-bugs and stairs) to counteract gravity, and I'm not having all that hard work undone by a badly-fitting pair of pants. Begone, evil culottes!

Incognito.
And they had pockets too. But I remind myself I have black velvet pants cropped pants (here) and they are so much better. No regrets - adios!

The stuff:
My colleague Christine couldn't help but notice my shoes as we were clomping up the stairs from her desk to the printer. The soles of these shoes are wooden - they make a lot of noise! The shoes are shockingly comfortable - honest. Toe wouldn't wear them if they weren't!

Gold bling:
First wearing of my new-to-me square cuff. It did not fall off, and didn't get in the way while I was packing and shipping a bunch of boxes.

  • Belt - vintage 80s, thrifted, Powell River
  • Square Lucite bangle - consignment; purchased here for $12.00
  • Gold bracelet - J. Crew, consignment
  • Brutalist brass/glass ring - Rafael, vintage 70s, consignment
  • Brass Brutalist ring - vintage 70s, vintage mall
  • Gold hoop earrings - 5th anniversary gift from L, 2002

  1. Chuckling because my immediate response was ‘fabulous outfit!’ But if the material is meh then out it goes. I also noticed your shoes because of their color and style. However, it doesn’t look like shoe math suffices here!

And, no surprise, am appreciating all your accessories. :)
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. I waffled on the culottes after wearing them the last time - I was convinced to keep them by the pics, which look better than I felt in person. The fabric is so plasticky and gross, I'm glad to move them along. No, Shoe Math is rather out the window here - those are 3-inch heels, but they really don't feel like it - the shoes are really well-balanced.

I love that you really look the accessories - you will like today's (all amber). Big hugs to you, Laurie!

  2. Hot week coming up here as well ... I'm bracing myself and have already put together some likely outfits.
I'm sorry to hear about the culottes' gross fabric and non-bum-enhancing properties! Away with it! The poppy blouse is gorgeous though, and so are those sandals! xxx

    1. We really only get temps this hot for a few days in August (when we're not having a heat dome like we did in 2021!), and I have a few pieces that I save for this heat.

That bum view made up my mind, Ann. Our rear view deserves to look good!

  3. Sorry that those culottes were not enhancing your derrière (that's a good reason to let them go!), and totally agree about the fabric, you'll find a better pair!.
But this is a really cool ensemble, love the poppies and the shoes and all the accessorizing!. The bracelet is fab!
    besos

    1. I don't know that I need another pair - I have a good pair of cropped black pants. Thank you!

  4. Sweaty and not bum-enhancing. Those (SAD)idas culottes need to go. Loving the poppies-on-speed print and that glorious view of the castle. xxx
