Floral, Plaid and a White Tee

I have a short week before three more days off. L and I will be celebrating his birthday as we always do: a little bit together, a little bit apart and then a party! I'm so excited!

However, that excitement did not extend to today's outfit, which came together in my mind, but didn't really work in the execution.
I love all the pieces, just not - quite - together.

  • Jacket - Marc Cain, consignment; last worn here in August 2021 with pink and green lace
  • T-shirt - Gen-O, thrifted; purchased here for $6.95
  • Skirt - Maeve, thrifted; last seen here in April 2021 with green lace (but not the same green lace)
  • Shoes - Wonders; last worn here in July 2021 for a Mom-Day Adventure

The jacket is better when it's the star and worn with solid colours.
The skirt requires something a bit bolder with it. The orange floral is all embroidered.

I needed a shorter or more fitted jacket. That's one pouffy skirt!
At least my legs look good! All that running at Ulti is good for me.

Without the jacket - a rare glimpse of me...in a white t-shirt! Yes, it's still me.
I bought this t-shirt last August(!!) because it's amazing quality 100% organic cotton and it's really thick (not see-through!). I had visions of drawing on it or something, but maybe it's just meant to be a handy white tee. At least until I stain it.

Masked up.
I don't think a belt would have saved it, but I quickly tried a few in the morning.

Done up - I didn't need a jacket!
But yes, two days from June and I am still wearing gloves. Sigh.

Accoutrements:
I liked the scarf with the outfit.

  • Scarf - Echo for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, thrifted
  • Gloves - consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
These are a summer stalwart sandal for me.

Pink and purple bling:
I had originally planned to wear lavender and mango shoes (these ones here), but they require nylons and I didn't realize I'd run out. Gah. So all this purple looked weird too.

  • Bangles - thrifted
  • Earrings - vintage fair
  • Necklace - vintage 1920s beads, strung by me in the 90s
  • Silver/crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Long chain necklace - 1920, the Bay c. 2005

Well, tomorrow's another outfit. At least I have Vizzini to console me.
"Busy. Sleeping."

Hey, bud, wanna cuddle? I could use some Kitty Therapy.
"Maybe later."

Cats!

  1. Hello, Vizzini, you adorable creature!
Isn't it annoying when the outfit you have planned doesn't quite work out? Oh well, onwards and upwards.
I'm excited about L's party, what are you both going to wear? xxx

    1. I hate it when what works in my head doesn't work in real life, Vix! It's so annoying.

I will likely have at least one outfit change, hee hee! I have some new dresses that need wearing!

  2. A terrific white Tshirt is a necessity. I really need a replacement as mine are either too thin or yes, stained. It's hard to find a good one though.

  4. Oh how I hate when that happens, Sheila! I tend to agree with you here. I'm loving the individual pieces - in particular the pouffy skirt - but they don't seem to be agreeing with each other. I'm rather envious of your short working week and birthday celebrations plans. I wonder if you've already got an outfit in mind for the big day? Do enjoy, and give Vizzini a cuddle from me! xxx

    1. I'm excited to get my vacation started, Ann! We have some fun plans for the week, but for the party, I'm probably going to wear a couple of the new dresses I've picked up over the last few months - yes, I will do an outfit change for the party! At least one!

  6. It's so frustrating when you don't have something come together in real life as you thought it would in your head! I do like these pieces, even if you wouldn't wear the jacket and skirt together again, it's always fun to try!
