Fall Olive Leopard

Today's outfit is one that I assembled last week as a mental health exercise, incorporating this new blouse that I picked up at Dots a few weeks ago.
The colours in my outfit are very fall-ish, with olive, orange and dark red.

  • Blouse - The Korner; purchased here for $4.79
  • Skirt - Max Mara, consignment; first worn here in January in a monochromatic orange look
  • Shoes - Campers; last seen here in April with green lace and orange flowers

My newly trimmed-up mullet still feels short but I did ask Kelsey take it up a bit more around the ears. It will be better once it's grown out a smidge. I have New Haircut Syndrome and it's currently sticking out in odd places!
I loved wearing this blouse today. I adore leopard (even olive leopard), big sleeves and a pussy bow!
The skirt is so luxuriously thick too.
I liked how the pebbled texture echoed the leopard spots.

Masked up, and photo-bombed by L in his suit this morning. Have a good day at the office, my love!
I went with a dark red mask, as my orange-y ones are with my fall/winter supply (yeah, the masks get swapped out too).

  • Mask - by Mom

With my sunnies on, ready to face the world.
Another week of gorgeous weather, and while it's lovely, I miss the rainy days.

The stuff:
These shoes are so weird-looking, but they are amazingly comfy.

Amber bling:
The blouse and skirt are both doing some heavy lifting in the outfit, so I just went with a funky pair of earrings and a small ring.

  • Amber/silver earrings - vintage, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Amber/silver ring - Past Times, c. 1995, gift from L

  1. Am in agreement with Jyoti, this is a snappy look and it all goes together so nicely - colors, textures and proportions. Like your "new haircut syndrome" - not that you have it (!) but the term, in general. Sums up how I often feel a few days after trimming my own hair!

Giggling that you are missing the rain. We've had enough rain and overcast days where we live that we were delighted with the sunny days in Olympia. We are back in NY and, at least today, are back to overcast and cool. Ah well, the weather will always provide opportunity for commentary. ;-)

    1. Jyoti's comment has been deleted - I do not like people embedding links to shady websites, so I remove them. I get a lot of spam like that, with very generic comments and links to sites full of ads and other bad things.

Thank you so much, Laurie! The more aggressive mullet is taking a bit of getting used to for me, but I do like it.

We're in nearly drought conditions here - farming is being hit hard, as well as places like the Gulf Islands that have minimal water in their wells. Ha, yes, we can always discuss weather! ;-P

    2. Completely understand your stance on deleting comments such as the one you noted. I have a blog (from the days when I was teaching) and I had it set for me to approve comments for precisely the reason you mentioned as well as for appropriateness.

    3. I delete at least one a day - sometimes they are sneaky and their "blog" links go back to shady sites. I don't want that kind of stuff here.

  2. Hi there Sheila, sorry been missing wow to yesterdays outfit beautiful skirt. Now to today's, very classy ensemble. Sometimes you point out the obvious to me, I have a lace skirt but in khaki of course red! to go with it. Those shoes are very interesting and I am loving the amber jewelry. Love your sunglasses too. Your hair looks fine but I know what you mean about new haircuts in a few days you will be used to it. Have a great evening Shazxx

    1. Shaz, nice to see you! No worries. Thank you so much!

I have loved red/orange + khaki/olive since I was a kid. I'm working on an amber collection (slowly), as I really love it. Thanks, honey!

    1. It's a pretty low-key office outfit for me (ha ha, I guess my version of low-key is different from most people's), but I love the colour combo. Thank you!

  4. I love both the blouse and the skirt and they work so well together! I'm always unsure about shades of green and red together but this is the second time I've seen someone pair olive and red together and it's not read "Christmas" which I'm always worried it will! I really need to try this myself :)

    1. Thanks, Mica! The skirt is actually a very dark orange, but I get what you mean about the "Christmas" vibe. Changing up the tones of the green and/or the red can get around this dilemma: for green, go more olive or dark forest green or even more of a lime shade; for reds, go more orange or into the burgundy shades. I promise you, it will work! You can do it!

  5. Oh wow!!! I love your style! I used to dress quite fearlessly when I was younger, but since I had my little one I've really gotten quite conservative. So I love love love to see bold looks like yours, it encourages me to be more myself again. And your hair looks FAB.

    1. Thanks so much, Katrina, and nice to meet you. I hope you'll be inspired to break out of your conservative mode (if that's what you want) and be bolder! If you like how you dress, then I'm happy to have you live boldly vicariously through me. :)

      Thank you!

  6. I love red and olive green together and you are clever echoing the leopard print with the textured skirt. Those shoes look really bouncy and good to wear.

  7. I'm loving the olive and orange/red colour scheme of this outfit, and yes, it does have Autumnal overtones. Which isn't a bad thing, I hasten to add. I'm actually feeling drawn to all things Autumnal at the moment, perhaps because it feels more like September than August here. I'd gladly send you some of our rain!
Nothing weird about those shoes in my eyes and they actually DO look extremely comfortable.
Love the new haircut regardless of the sticking out bits which I cannot see. xxx

    1. This is one of my favourite colour combos, Ann, right up there with pink/yellow, purple/orange and aqua/orange. I am starting to feel the pull of autumn too - thinking about boots and sweaters, etc. We'll welcome the rain!

They are awesome, very squishy! Thank you, that's very kind. ;-P

  9. Oooh this is a fun and sassy combination, Sheila! I really like the fall colors. They are my favorite hues in all the color spectrum! New Haircut Syndrome is a real thing! Probably why I keep putting off my hair cut (it's been 14 months since I had a trim). But from my view, your hair isn't sticking out in weird places! It looks fantastic actually. Thanks for linking with me!

  10. Gorgeous (and ever-so-chic!) outfit. I adore the marriage of a crimson skirt with a patterned blouse in autumnal hues. You're speaking my colour language big time there, dear Sheila.
