The Jammy Suit and Cat Bomber

Ah, one more day - I know I can make it. Still feeling low, but that's okay - I know I'll come out of it eventually. I really loved this post here today, by the Bloggess. If you don't know her, give her a shot - she makes me laugh and cry, and I've also enjoyed two of her books very much.*link 'cause I love
As soon as I'm done here, I plan to eat a nice healthy dinner (followed by some chocolate), and chill out with Vizzini and Project Runway. Perfect self-care.

  • Suit - Part Two; purchased here as separates on the weekend for $49.99 for the trousers and $59.99 for the jacket
  • Blouse - Renuar, thrifted; last worn here in March under a corset top
  • Shoes - Matisse; last seen here in April with yellow and daisies

And here...is my new suit! Aren't I classy? Hello to Vizzini, who photo-bombed most of my pictures this morning.
"A black suit? I'm wearing it better."

I only wore it done up walking to and from work, but it has very nice lines, doesn't it?

The fabric was a dream, very light and flowy.
"You should try being furry. Very flowy, my fur."

It did feel like pajamas - I felt like I was cheating. That's not a real suit; it's not stiff and uncomfortable!

Check out my lining - nice piping.
"All the best cats have white bits."

I wore the jacket unbuttoned all day. I dressed so that I could take it off if I overheated.
Pockets!

I like this look too, so I will definitely be wearing these as separates. It's important for a suit to be able to have the pieces live separate lives.

It's like a good marriage.
Also, one's butt must look good in trousers or they shall leave the closet immediately.

The stuff:
I had originally planned to wear these shoes, but opted for a lower heel and the pattern mix of these brogues instead.

Gold bling:
My mom's metal/glass floral brooch was an easy choice - it's such a cool piece.

  • Brooch - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Belt - thrifted
  • Pearl ring - Erth, consignment
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Earrings - thrifted

And my friends, with that, it's time to slouch off to a quiet evening.

"Get your lap ready for cuddles."
This weekend is Victoria Day (celebrating Queen Victoria's birthday - yes, this is a national holiday in Canada!), so we have Monday off. To my Canuck readers, enjoy your long weekend; and to everyone else, happy weekend, and thank you for stopping by!

  1. Makes me think of the Delicate Sound of Thunder suit. https://www.hypergallery.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/signed_image/1400x/17f82f742ffe127f42dca9de82fb58b1/P/i/PinkFloyd_DelicateSoundOfThunder_AlbumCoverArtPrint_StormThorgerson_full-width.jpg

  2. The bloggess has such a way with words and I love both of her books! I was talking to a friend and when I realised he hadn't heard of her I gave him my copy of 'let's pretend this never happened' right away, required reading I felt!

I love your suit and it's great it's comfortable! I hope you have a relaxing long weekend and you get to rest and recharge.

    1. Isn't she wonderful? I feel like we would get along in person, that same kind of geeky awkwardness. I have given away my copies of her books too - they need to be shared.

Thank you, Mica! Here's to a chill weekend!

    1. Thanks, Ann! I'm glad I went with a neutral suit vs. a colourful one (those are also fun). Much appreciated, my dear - and wishing the same to you!

    1. Thanks, Vronni! The skirt is a cream, not white, but same diff. Weekend is nearly over, sigh.

  6. That suit is fabulous, dead klassy (just like you).
The BBC has been running a series on the menopause lately and although I haven't had any other symptom, there's been a run of a similarly low mood to yours. Hope you start to feel brighter soon and that your long weekend helps. Enjoy! xxx

  9. I don't wear suits, but if I did, they would have to be like that one - comfy, yet stylish, and both pieces able to lead fulfilling, single lives (like any good relationship). I've been following Jennie's blog for ages, and have read her books. She is one my favourite people I've never met.

I'm sorry you're still feeling low. I had a shaky March and April, and fortunately, it seems to have passed, and I hope you will feel lighter soon.

    1. I haven't worn them much in several years, but it's fun to go back and do a suit again after so long. Jenny is amazing, I knew you'd know her.

Thanks, Shelley. I hope your world gets brighter soon! Not long till June!
