Dress for a Holiday

Ugh, I did not want to go to work today! For those of you who had Easter Monday off, I envy you!
I didn't feel much like effort, so I wore one of my easy dresses, this lovely navy patterned one.

  • Cardigan - no label, thrifted; purchased here for $22.95
  • Dress - Birds of North America, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in September 2018 to see Frank Turner in Vancouver
  • Shoes - Super Fine Cardinal, Fluevog; first worn here the weekend in March they were purchased
  • Leather coat (below) - Danier Leather; last seen here in March

Although I didn't wear the dress at all without the cardigan, here it is.
I often wear a floofy underskirt with it to add extra length - it's a short dress.

It's handy having dresses like this that you can just throw on. Holiday that's not a holiday? A dress!
Very few people saw me today - it was practically a snow day, it was so dead!

Red cardi, ready for duty.
It was a serviceable cardigan. I do love a bright red. It'll get worn a bunch before I either get tired of it or wear it out, but I won't be tracking it (lack of label).

Outerwear - it threatened to rain on the way to work, but I managed to miss it. It rained all day!
And then it was clear on the way home. I felt like it stayed dry just for me.

The stuff:
Love these shoes - so comfy!

Gold bling:
Nothing terribly exciting, but then neither was my day.

  • Cuff - vintage, vintage fair
  • Bracelet - Butler, Fifth Avenue Collection, vintage, consignment
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

  1. Indeed, Monday can be a long day after an extended holiday weekend. Still your outfit looks inspired even as you may not be too energetic. I love the Asian print with the red cardigan. The gold shoes are magical.
I’m not familiar with that dress designer. I’m going to look it up because I really love that print. Have a great week ahead my friend.

    1. Thank you, Elle! I liked this whole outfit, even though it wasn't terribly exciting. I'm glad you're seeking out Birds of North America - you will see that they are all Canadian made, and an ethical company! They specialize in prints!

  2. The print on that dress is fabulous, what a shame more people didn't get to admire it. Love the red coat with it and those super cool metallic shoes. xxx

  3. I'm afraid I'm one of those people who had Easter Monday off. And the rest of the week of that matter. I'm already fearing the day I have to go back to work. But wearing an easy, yet fabulous dress, is the trick, it seems. I'm loving the gold shoes and accessories you've paired it with, and that red leather coat, too. xxx

  4. A little more leg than usual -- I approve! You've got the gams for it. :-)

    1. I'm wearing nylons! Not quite as exposed as I look. Ha, from the Queen of Gams, that's high praise!

  5. Lovely dress. Today I did the same as you usually do: I wore a short dress with a pleated underdress just a little longer.

  7. Those shoes are gorgeous! They go beautifully with the navy dress and gold bling. One thing though, are you not in danger of tripping over those extra long toes?

    Hope your week goes well...

    1. No, the toes haven't bothered me at all! It's nice for my toes not to be squished - I predict I'll be buying more shoes in this family!

  9. lovely idea to wear a dress for comfort (and to cheer up the day!) and such a lovely dress. Those shoes totally rock and love how they look with this dress and red cardi. This touch of red color enhances everything!

  10. Only Sheila could call a minidress, a red leather coat, and regal golden shoes, unexciting!

  11. You make it look so effortless... yet you look like a million bucks. It's all about having the ability to look fab by putting the right pieces together and you can do that with your eyes closed.

    1. Thank you, my dear! They are so sweet - no one saw 'em, though, so I wore 'em again very recently (this past Friday).
