Thank you all so much for your good vibes - I'm feeling much better today, well-rested, and while I'm not 100%, I am in the 80% range. Which is good enough.
What to do when feeling blue? Wear a dress!- Turtleneck - Jacob, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in December 2018, over the holidays
- Dress - Romeo Gigli, vintage, consignment; first worn here (3rd outfit) over the November 2018 long weekend, with burgundy accents
- Boots - Ishshoes Chatterbox, Fluevog; last seen here in December 2018 with florals
- Leather coat (below) - Danier Leather, thrifted; last worn here in December 2018
And when you want to feel like you're in a cocoon of comfort, you wear a sweater dress. And a sparkly turtleneck under it.
And throw on a belt to look like you made an effort. There you go.
Second wearing of this lovely wool dark grey dress. It's a gorgeous piece, even with that "Flashdance" neckline (hence the turtleneck - which I did not need for warmth, just coverage).
I happily showed this off to my fashion-forward colleagues - Romeo Gigli! Linking here just for fun to this listing on 1st Dibs for a similar 80s dress by him, also with really long sleeves, listed for over $2,000! Woo, and mine was only $27.50.
Where have my hands gone? Could they be hiding under these long, long sleeves?
It's certainly possible.
Outerwear - it rained all day today.
This plus my umbrella, and I was good.
- Fur boa - thrifted
- Gloves - Parkhurst
The stuff:
Playing with my accessory sets - I knew I could do an all-blue look with these wonderful velvet boots.
Blue bling:
I enjoy getting wear out of my vintage leather/elastic waist-cincher belt too! Dig those 80s snakeskin inserts!
- Belt - vintage, thrifted
- Earrings - thrifted
- Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
- Sodalite/silver ring - Scotland, 1996
Glad you're feeling better! Love this outfit, I have been wearing my sweater dresses and suede boots quite a lot this winter. You look lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dar! It was an easy outfit, and that's what I needed.
DeleteI am loving all of the blue together! Even when not feeling well, you still manage to look stylish and pulled together! :) I am glad you're feeling better and I hope you're back to 100% soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Mica. I'm getting there...wearing a dress is often my go-to when I'm not feeling well.
Deleteyou do look fab in that - I love the dress and glad you're improving. But how did the velvet boots hold up in the rain? Cathy
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Cathy! Oh, I don't wear any of my good shoes outside. These did not see the rain at all.
Deletelovely and comfy outfit!, the sweater dress looks cozy and your belt and boots make it looks elegant and cool too! and love your leather jacket and accessories!
ReplyDeleteGlad that you're feeling better!
besos
Thanks, Monica! It was the coziest!
DeleteI think this outfit is super, fantastic, gorgeous. Can you tell I am very enthusiastic?
ReplyDeleteNow you say it is probably an eighties dress. Are you sure? As the super long sleeves are a thing of very recent years (5 years?) All your blue items thrown in work perfectly. It enhances your figure, elongate you by its length. And the blue leather jacket is so good on it. Especially with the fluffy scarf.
Ace.
Greetje
PS Romeo Gigli? I can only dream of such finds.
It's pretty classic - I could see you in this, Greetje. Yes, I'm sure - he was doing this extra-long arm look in 1986. Vogue.com doesn't even have runways shows listed for him - he's not a current label anymore.
DeleteThanks so much! I've found a few vintage Gigli pieces, but this has been the only one that fit me.
You know your stuff so well... Why was I question you🙄?
DeleteI do my research, baby! ;=P
DeleteThe snakeskin reminds me of a bat - obviously, I'm So Here For It! I'm sorry I missed earlier mentions that you were feeling peaked - and definitely glad you're feeling better now. Love that dress - Flashdance neckline and all.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I see that! Thanks so much for the good vibes! I love this dress too.
DeleteI wish I had the option you state in your opening sentence!
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant third and fourth sentences.
DeleteYeah, I wish you could just wear a dress, Ally. :(
DeleteThat sweater dress really has it all. Not only is it gorgeous, it must have comfort factor 10. I could have done with those sleeves the last couple of days. Love how you styled it with that magnificent belt, as well as the addition of blue velvet and bling! xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to wear - such nice quality too. I liked the really cinched belt with it - it helped it from overwhelming my frame.
DeleteOh, those boots are so beautiful! What a lovely dress. It would have been perfect for today's weather here - bloody freezing! Loved it with the belt and the blue accessories. Glad to hear you're getting better.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I love them too. This was a very nice snuggly outfit. I'm getting there...
DeleteThat belt, besides being stunning, makes your waist look incredibly tiny. Love the hues of blues in this!
ReplyDeleteI know, I LOVE that! Thanks, Cynthia!
DeleteWonderful cozy look, perfect for the less than that 100% feeling. Toasty. But also chic and fabulous. The belt, yeah, it definitely cinches the deal (heh). That rain was wicked.
ReplyDeleteOh, most definitely, Mel! Heh, I see what you did there! Rain is...good, but not for shoes.
DeleteOh Romeo ! I also worked for his fragrances ;) Same as Cavalli.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the turtle neck peeking out under that beauty .
Did you! How cool. Yup, never thought I would love having a turtleneck! Thanks, Lorena!
DeleteHi Shiela, I love how you added the blue velvet boots and jacket to your outfit- a perfect way to make yourself feel a bit better! X
ReplyDeleteNo better way to beat the blues than to wear the blues, Jess! Thank you.
DeleteOh! Oh! I could) would wear that dress. At least once a week! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteIt's a pretty snuggly dress, that's for sure, Rebecca! Thanks!
