Sparkles Started, and the Unsafe Ocelot

I have a lot of sparkly clothes - which shocks absolutely no one who knows me - and I like to wear them at this time of year!
I decorate myself! Why limit yourself to trees?

  • Sweater - Tatyana, thrifted; last worn here (3rd outfit) in July with a Marimekko skirt
  • Skirt - Club Monaco, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) in December 2017 for a social day on the town
  • Shoes - Seychelles; last worn here in October with a blue blazer
  • Unsafe Ocelot (below) - Hilary Radley, thrifted; last seen here in February

When I have an uber-sparkly piece like this skirt, I tend to ground it with a solid top. Black may be predictable, but this sweater has a vintage-inspired cut that looks great on me.
And it allows the jewelry and the shiny, SHINY skirt to...shine. The skirt is a rust-colour, woven with ginormous paisley shapes. It's box-pleated all the way around - that gives it lovely movement.

It's stitched down to the upper thigh, so it stays nice and flat. It's a poofy skirt that doesn't look poofy!
I wore a full-length vintage black slip under this for extra warmth - you can just see the hem in this picture.

Outerwear - the Unsafe Ocelot makes an appearance! Welcome, welcome, Unsafe Ocelot. Good to see you.
I like it best worn open like this, but when I have it on, I'm fully bundled up.

Like so.
This is the softest, snuggliest coat ever! L bought it for me, new with tag, for $34.99 at Flavour Upstairs here in October 2015. How did I manage winter without it?

  • Fur toque - Danier Leather
  • Fur scarf - thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

Since I already had the Unsafe Polar Bear, this had to be the Unsafe Ocelot.
The coat is quilted inside, and there is a big split at the back for walking.

The stuff:
Oh, yes, there will be sparkles. Let the sparkling begin!

Gold bling:
Finally wearing these new-to-me gold-dipped floral earrings, which I've decided are bits of carnations.

  • Bracelet - Lia Sophia, thrifted
  • Metal flower pin - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Floral ring - Sarah Coventry, vintage shop in Powell River
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Earrings - vintage fair, purchased here for $8.00 - first wearing

  6. I love your sparkly outfit, it really made my day! The skirt is fabulous and you did well combining it with the black jumper, especially with your Mom's flower pin pinned to it. Your Unsafe Ocelot must be one of the most fabulous coats I've ever seen. I bet you won't ever get cold wearing it. I really must dig out my great aunt's leopard coat ... xxx
