Plaid Present and Green Bookends

I had several people tell me I looked like a Christmas present today.
What? Too much colour? Me? Never!

  • Sweater - Tatyana, thrifted; last seen here (4th outfit) in September at the end of a rock & roll weekend
  • Skirt - Roland Kerry, vintage 80s, consignment; last worn here in December 2017 with this same sweater!
  • Shoes - Half Truth Tanya, Fluevog; last seen here in July with a bold striped dress
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather; last worn here in November

As we roll into the holiday season, I grab for my once-a-year skirts. This one's a doozy, isn't it? Plaid taffeta!
It came with a matching headband! Check it out - I bought it here in June 2013 for $44.00 for the set (headband, skirt). So very 80s. It has a netting petticoat (attached) under it and it rustles when I walk. It's a very loud skirt. No pockets, though.

I wore a full vintage slip under this.
I totally forgot that I'd worn it with this sweater, just last year (ha!). I did green bookends with the black and green kitten heels.

I received Floor Warden training all morning today, then cleared our group out later in the afternoon in a building-wide fire drill. I barely got any work done.
The face of "Not Really Caring (That Much)."

Outerwear - it was spitting rain off and on all day, but fortunately, it held off during the fire drill.
Snuggly warm, but didn't need all of that hat and scarf business by the end of the day. I am my own furnace, baby.

  • Fur hat/scarf/leather gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
Comfy shoes for climbing stairs and running around.

Seasonal bling:
So predictable, red and green. I love these earrings.

  • Cuff - Rimanchik
  • Earrings - vintage fair

Here's a close-up of the earrings.
And with that, I'm outta here for the rest of the weekend. Have a good one, stay chill, and I'll see you on Sunday!

Last night, I hosted Book Club, so had put out my lovely quilted table runner that my mom made. This morning, I found this:
"I am the boss of this coffee table."
Vizzini! You rotten cat! Get off there!

  3. Green does work so well with that skirt, it's such a pretty piece Sheila! I really like your green earrings too. Reminds me I need to wear my a-line pleated skirts again! They are good for summer as they are quite light fabrics!

  4. Lovely skirt. I would never have paired it with green 'cause I lack your insight. It works!

    1. It's not quite the same green as in the skirt (that's a bit more turquoise-y), but close enough! It just has to "go", not match. :)

  5. You look so pretty with the earrings and red lippy!!! Gem-tone taffeta is so satisfying. I have a lot of red and green clothing and I get a little elvy looking at holiday time.

  6. How gorgeous is that taffeta plaid skirt! It's a shame to keep it for the holiday season, though. You could wear it any time of the year, so many colours to choose from to combine it with. Love it with the green, though. The earrings are spectacular! Oh, Vizzini! Phoebe would have done that too. She basically sits/lies on anything you leave out on the table. You should try reading a newspaper with her around ... Have a fab weekend, Sheila! xxx

    1. I used to wear it year-round, Ann, but it always felt very Christmassy, both in the look and the fabric. It's too hot to wear in warm weather, that's for sure.

Vizzini rarely does this sort of thing (he knows where he is NOT ALLOWED). I think he's smelling our previous cat on it, his buddy Inigo.

      Happy weekend, my dear!

  7. How fabulous you look in green! That skirt is gorgeous and the earrings are amazing.
Naughty Vizzini - they seek out the newest or most precious things, don't they? You should see the look I get when I dare to sit on my new chair, you'd think it was a cat chair! xxxx

    1. Aw, thank you, Vix! Ha, they really do - he was very possessive about the new couch for about a week, and he was acting territorial when someone was using "his" chair. Cats!

  10. Ah, never predictable Sheila ! Love the taffeta plaid amd green sweater, thematic but not formulaic. Gorgeous double strapped may janes. Love the headband, but do not see you wearing it. Not a Sheila look, IMHO.
Green cabochan earrings—- to die for !
