I am a mass of cosmic influences today: night sky, stars, swirls of outer space dust! They are all in my outfit.
Or maybe I am just in a daze from it being Monday. Five more sleeps till vacation!- Vest - no label, thrifted; last seen here in March to meet a reader
- Top - Jean-Paul Gaultier, consignment; last worn here (4th outfit) in August for a shopping trip
- Skirt - Trina Turk, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) in November for a weekend brunch
- Booties - Coffee Kope Tiam, Fluevog; last worn here in November with cropped leather and green
- Coat (below) - Hilary Radley, thrifted; last seen here last week
I built my outfit around three things: new-to-me earrings, a new-to-me necklace and an old pair of footless tights. You can see a bit of the shiny metal discs on the tights in some of the pictures - they are all down near the ankles and lower calf, and these tights are saggy and kept sliding down, so NOPE, in the bin you go!
This oversized velvet ruffled vest thingy is also in the giveaway pile. I like it, but it's not the most flattering thing I own. I was all "yes!" about this last fall/winter, but am feeling "meh" about it this year. Another hanger freed up. So it goes.
I love the top and its cosmic circles... it's, like, trippy, man...The colour is blown out a bit so that you can see the details of texture and pattern.
See? Bad back definition from the vesty thing. |
The skirt is my lovely Trina Turk tulle one - it's a very rich navy blue and very floaty and fun to wear. Needs pockets.
It's such a Monday that I don't even have a face for you.
But look at all my accessories! It's a galaxy of shiny things. My hands and wrists are fully armoured-up.
Outerwear - I was dubious that I would need the Unsafe Ocelot today, but by the time I walked home, carrying all my groceries, I was so glad to be bundled up. Slashing rain and wind!
Ding dong, Winter's calling.
- Headwrap - thrifted
- Gloves - Parkhurst
- Fur scarf - Danier Leather
My headwrap and gloves are navy blue too.
The stuff:
Sometimes you just need a taupe bootie.
Poly bling:
My new-to-me necklace and earrings are featured today, and are a galactic swirl of shapes and textures: gold, brass, silver, steel, and even a touch of blue.
- Cuff - JPA, vintage fair
- Earrings - thrifted here for $5.00 - first wearing
- All other jewelry - POLY by Christophe Poly; all thrifted, vintage fairs.
The square Poly necklace is the new-to-me one, purchased here on the weekend for $14.00 in a used furniture store. It's like the universe put it there for me to find.
I love all of the metallic in your outfit Sheila - what a great way to accessorise such a fun top! Hope your Monday flew by, not long until you're on break! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mica! The days (daze?) do fly!
DeleteAs much as I love velvet, i think freeing that hanger was a good choice.
ReplyDeleteI was looking at the necklace that you recently spotted and picked up for just 14.00! I always feel like a "winner" when I spot something and before looking at the tag can source where its from or who makes it. Great find.
Yup, I agree. I've been wanting to wear that, but it's just not been inspiring me.
DeleteI knew as soon as I saw it that it was a POLY piece! That always feels great.
You're rocking several trends there in fabulous style! I drool over skirts like yours (not literally!). Have a great vacay!
ReplyDeleteAm I on trend? How lovely! Thanks so much, Gail!
DeleteLove the skirt and cosmic top! And it's good to see you're wearing that fabulous pendant! You just had to, hadn't you? I'm hearing you on the vest, though. Good to free up its hanger for a fabulous new item ;-) Saggy tights: oh no, that's just horrible. I hate it when that happens. I'm counting down to vacation time too! xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann! Yes, I had to wear it right away! You know me well, ha ha! Yeah, the vest was just not right - I know someone else will love it. Yup, saggy tights have to go!
DeleteBring on the vacation!!
Don't you just hate saggy tights?
ReplyDeleteI see why you don't like the vest; I think it's the ruching at the back but what lovely velvety material. I am loving the cosmic spacey jewellery - fabulous!
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year, Sheila, and a well deserved rest.
They are the worst, Vronni!
DeleteIt's got a draw-string at the waist for wearing it zipped up, but the zipper then bells weirdly - but yes, the fabric is lovely!
Aw, you too, my dear. Thank you.
Love the galaxy daze outfit! X
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jess!
DeleteLoving the trance vibe of the top! Your necklaces are just lovely and the unsafe ocelot takes it to another level.
ReplyDeleteGah! I hate descending gusset syndrome, it's the worst! xxx
It's so very 90s, isn't it, Vix? Aw, thank you! Gusset is such a funny word.
Deletelove your metalic galactic bling! the new necklace is fabulous! and love all the metalic details!. Sorry that you didn't feel like wearing the velvet vest anymore, probably it's because of that seam in the back, I think it looks nice in the front!
ReplyDeletebesos
Thank you! Sometimes I just like gobs of jewelry. That seam in the back of the vest is a draw-string - it's just kind of odd.
