Urban Camo and Platform Shoes

Today was a busy, busy day - I decorated my office for Christmas. I built my outfit knowing that's what I'd be doing.
One of my best cost-per-wear thrifted items ever, has been this dress. We'll see if the shoes ever catch up!

  • Dress - Dept, thrifted; last worn here in January (same belt and slip!)
  • Shoes - Fly London, thrifted; purchased here for $42.95
  • Coat (below) - Denny Rose, consignment; last seen here in April

I've had this dress since October 2014 (flashback here!) where I paid $8.00 for it, and have worn it ten times (including this time) - I'm down to 80 cents per wear.
The dress is a polyester crepe and is quite light, but because it's polyester, it retains body heat.  Translation for "I sweat in it" - which I totally did. Into the wash it goes!

The blue lacy bit hanging down at the bottom is my vintage full slip, worn for sweat protection and boobular coverage (as one bends over a lot when one is putting up a tree and dealing with boxes of ornaments).

I also hauled a ton of boxes and banners up to our storage locker on the top floor of our building. I must have climbed the stairs ten times. Sweaty!
I just love the colours in this dress: black, grey, white, caramel, orange, blue and purple. Such a weird combo, but it works. It's my urban camo.

Outerwear - I forgot about this lovely coat!
 It matches the shoes perfectly!

  • Fur scarf - thrifted
  • Gloves - Cejon, thrifted

The stuff:
I loved wearing these shoes today. It took me a while to get used to my heel sliding up and down - there is zero elastic on the straps/buckle, and I have small ankles. It resulted in a rocking footstep, which felt great over the course of my busy day. Love that platform!

Simple bling:
I've worn this belt with this dress five times! I'm so creative, ha. But it goes so well!

  • Belt - Fendi, thrifted
  • Leather wrap - Kipling, thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Mismatched gold hoops - gifts from L

Besides, when you have a Fendi belt - you have to wear it!

  2. I always rewear belts and dresses when they go well together, sometimes being creative just won't do! Haha! Love the shoes.
What do you do for work? Do you have a big space to decorate? X

  3. Polyester "Retains heat"... hahahahaha... how delicately put Sheila!
    I love that.
Polyester and I end up in a stinking mess (literally).
I'm not a particularly warm (read: sweaty) person BUT there is something about poly and I that means B.O.
Anything made from the stuff clings too.... argggghhh!!!!
Luckily Scotland lends itself to layering and therefore the stuff never touches my skin (thank you thermals!).
Your dress certainly looks fabulous on you and that BELT and shoes... I swoon.
    You have the BEST accessories.

  4. I somehow can't seem to get my head around the fact that it's almost December and *gasp* Christmas is looming ... Every time Jos mentions the word Christmas I cover my ears and go la-la-la ... Anyway, back to your outfit. This is such an amazing dress, can't blame you for wearing it that often. The dress and belt were just made for each other. Glad the shoes did not let you down at their first wear. They are quite marvellous! xxx

  6. Oh my goodness, I can't believe that it was January when you last wore this dress Sheila as I remember it so well, especially partnered with this fab chunky belt. The shoes are brilliant too (a new purchase? Yes, I'm about to play catch-up sweetie. I've been poorly with a reaction to the flu jab!) anyway, off I go!

  9. This is such a fun twist on a camouflage print. That dress is beautiful and I especially love the color scheme. At $.80 per wear that is incredibly thrifty as well as wonderfully stylish. I love the vintage slip underneath. It’s adds a beautiful little ruffle detail.

  10. That dress is the perfect "go anywhere" piece, although it's too bad about the sweat-inducing fabric. I'm glad the shoes were comfortable - they were an excellent price, and I love a wedge platform too.
