Caro's Crop and Gone Green

This is a short week for me coming up; L and I always take US Thanksgiving off! I am thankful to have a couple of extra vacation days.
So, all that to say that Mondays aren't so bad when you have a 3-day work week. Especially when you wear a comfy dress.

  • Jacket - Kenzie, consignment; purchased here on the weekend for $38.00
  • Dress - Just Female, thrifted; first worn here in June with tan boots
  • Boots - Coffee Kope Tiam, Fluevog; last seen here in October with my birthday leather

Although I didn't wear the dress this way, here's the front and back shots. It is now in the giveaway pile.
I did not like how it looked with a jacket layered over it, and if I can't get a variety of looks out of a piece, then it won't last long.

All that back draping is well and good if you wear the dress alone, and with bare legs - that's tricky with a long-sleeved sweater dress!
The dress worn with tights was very clingy, even with a camisole on the top, and a short slip on the bottom. I was constantly fussing with it.

Cool tights, though, aren't they? They're pretty old (8+ years), and they are actually footless, so I only wear them with boots.

With this lovely new-to-me leather jacket - this is how I wore the outfit all day.
I like a cropped top with a high waist and long sleeves poking out. I had no issues whatsoever with that. I like this look overall.

Back view - yeah, nope. Gotta go, green dress!
But let's focus on the positive - the jacket! Turns out this IS my girlfriend Caro's cropped jacket, and she HAD offered it to me when she was getting rid of it - we had quite a chuckle about it today!

Bundled up - another gloriously sunny autumn day. Again, I was chilly by the time I got home, but great for the rest of the day.
I love this gorgeous silk/cashmere pashmina that Mom bought me. It's like a hug when I wear it.

  • Scarf - gift from Mom
  • Leather gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
I'm fond of these boots - although they're neutral, the shape is so interesting. These are the same "family" of shoes as these 3-coloured ones I wore last week.

Brass bling:
All favourites.

  • Brass cuff - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Brass cuff (spiky) - Midzo, vintage expo
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Necklace - Plum
  • Jade ring - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Spinner ring - Twang & Pearl
  • Bronze ring - vintage 70s, P. Sarpaneva

I'm off to start the chili for Thursday now - it needs time to meld the flavours!

  1. Hi Shiela, you're great at realising when you're not happy with a piece from your wardrobe and letting it go. I think it's good to do that otherwise I'd have a wardrobe full of things that I'm not that really keen on.
    Happy thanksgiving! X

    1. Yes, it does mean I have pretty high turnover of things as I test them out in a variety of outfits, but I'm good at ensuring I really love most of the items in my closet.

      Thanks, Jess!

  2. Shame about the dress, but I can see what you mean. The tights are fabulous, and so is Caro's jacket. How funny is that! But then again, I almost re-bought a dress I'd donated in one of the charity shops, before the penny dropped, so to speak ... Lucky you having another long weekend coming up! xxx

  4. lovely jacket and lovely ensemble, I like particularly the 'short over long' look!
And so fab accessorizing, the tights are really fantastic!. Sorry that the dress was clingy, it's something that makes me feel fussy too!

  5. One of the good things I've found about photographing my outfits is that I can now immediately tell whether something deserves to take up precious real estate in my closet! That cute cropped jacket will look lovely over something you like better.

    1. Yes! Photographing outfits helps immensely, especially with pieces I'm not too sure about. I agree!

  6. It was a good decision to get rid of that dress.

  7. The jacket is a beautiful colour and hey, too bad about that dress, but you're right to get rid. I've got a sweater dress that I've yet to wear for the very same reason - I fancy it will get caught on my tights and do that crazy riding up. Will showcase it first though, so look out for that.

    1. Why must sweater dresses be so alluring, and yet so difficult? I will watch for it - thanks, Anna!
