Urban Camo, Velvet Boots and a Blue Fedora

Hello! I've added a new page at the top of my blog with "My Favourite Victoria Second-Hand Clothing Stores" - feel free to check it out! If you're traveling to Victoria, and like to shop in thrift or consignment stores, those are the ones I shop in.

* * *

I fell back on an old favourite for today - this "urban camo" dress. I know, it matches my hair!
And my velvet boots! You know I had to wear these together.

  • Dress - Dept, thrifted; last seen here in October 2017 with the exact same outfit (except the shoes)
  • Boots - Ishshoes Chatterbox, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) for New Year's Eve
  • Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in October 2017

It's been getting lighter in the mornings. I had a lovely view of the Castle this morning from my stair perch.
 Spooky!

When I'm feeling blah, I wear a dress. This one is an easy formula.
Dress, navy blue vintage slip, same belt. Super easy.

I was thrilled that my boots went so well with it.
They were much brighter in office lighting. Many of my coworkers oohed and ahhed over them.

It was mild and windless today - a perfect day to wear a fedora.
I did not need the scarf and gloves by the time I came home.

  • Scarf - gift from L
  • Wool gloves - Parkhurst
  • Hat - vintage, thrifted - first wear, purchased for $7.00

How very jaunty I am!
A man hollered "Nice coat!" at me as I left the office this evening. Um, thank you.

The stuff:
Great glorious blue velvet boots! They were lovely to wear all day.

Forgotten bling:
I wouldn't forget the belt (it's one of my best thrifting treasures), but I did forget about these earrings. I've had them for about 9 years - I bought them on clearance when Plum closed its doors here.

  • Belt - Fendi, thrifted
  • Earrings - Plum

  1. Great combo of those spectacular boots with that dress. Love how your lipstick, hair and earrings color coordinated. The coat was the "icing on the cake".

  3. The dress is such a fabulous print, perfect for cheering up blah days. Those fabulous boots look like they're made for the dress, and I'll be looking out for a similar belt. It's such a statement piece. Love the blue fedora on you too! xxx

  4. I am with your coworkers here, as I am in awe of those blue velvet boots. I also adore the modern interpretation of camouflage in this fabulous color palette. The peek of slip is also a nice and surprising design element.
I feel you, a dress is simple, and simplicity is something I value.
    Beautifully done!

    1. Thank you, Elle - they are even better in person! I think camo should come in more colours, don't you? The slip keeps it from being too short (and the dress is unlined as well). I love a simple outfit sometimes too.

  8. Oh yes, I love this combo, the dress and boots do work so perfectly together Sheila. I tend to go for dresses for an easy outfit, but you always look like you put more effort into yours. I tend to throw it on and hope for the best and sometimes I think that shows!

    1. Thanks, looks familiar, doesn't it! Aw, thank you, Mica! I love your dresses - I keep culling mine down so that I only have my very favourites, but it's so hard. I tend to repeat the elements I like best.

  10. Your hair has gotten so long! Apologies that it's been so long since I have "dropped by", but life blindsided me and I'm still working to pick up the pieces. Really glad to see you still rocking your style
