Turmeric and Rainbow Plaid

It's so fun having a couple of new-to-me things to play with - I'm always excited to see how people react to combinations, especially colourful ones.
Lots of fans of today's outfit at work - everyone loves colour, even if they don't wear it much themselves.

  • Leather jacket - Danier Leather Couture, consignment; last worn here in September with black and white and red all over
  • Blouse - H&M, thrifted; purchased here on the weekend for $6.95
  • Skirt - Simon Chang, vintage 80s, thrifted; purchased here on the weekend for $18.75
  • Shoes - Truths Pilgrim, Fluevog; last seen here in October with dubious pants

I didn't take the jacket off all day, but I thought you'd like to get a good look at the new pieces. The colours in the stair picture are the most accurate - this blouse is a true turmeric shade. Not quite yellow, not quite orange. It looks mustard here, but it's not that yellow.
It's a simple cut - it doesn't even have buttons - but it was really comfortable to wear. I sweated in it (of course), so back in the wash it goes.

The skirt is a stunner, can we agree? It's a snug fit, with no stretch, but such a nice cut - it was lovely to wear. I just love this rainbow of colour.
I wore it with the buttons done up - they didn't hamper my movement until I had to climb a small ladder at the end of the day. Ladders + pencil skirts = not friends.

I did the black leather over it, just to ground all this colour.
I've always been a fan of blazers, cardigans and "completer" pieces. They make an outfit look finished.

How many more sleeps till the long weekend?
One! Woo!

Outerwear - the weather is still holding, so I grabbed the opportunity to go over-the-top with my colour.
Orange, and pink, and purple! Yes! All the colours of the plaid.

  • Fur head-wrap - thrifted
  • Fur boa - thrifted
  • Leather gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
I considered doing a red pointy-toe pump, as well a pointy-toe flat, but I'm glad I went with these Fluevogs - I liked how the 70s vibe of them pulled the skirt into a mod look. Also, super-comfy!

Gold bling:
Nodding to the gold buttons of the skirt, of course.

  • Belt - vintage, thrifted
  • Earrings - Biko, consignment
  • Ring - c. 1996

My friends, I am offline now - I will be back on Sunday with outfits and tales of adventure (perhaps some cat pictures). A very happy Thanksgiving to my US friends!

  3. I really like this colourful outfit on you Sheila! The top and skirt look wonderful together. I think you got it so right too - even if people don't wear a lot of colour, they do like colourful things! I'm trying to be a bit more adventurous with my colours and most of that is due to you looking so fab in the combinations you wear! :)

  12. I love the colour and the styling of that pretty blouse! What an excellent bargain you got purchasing it! That blouse looks wonderful styled with the colourful vintage skirt, and our red lipstick makes a pretty and complementary contrast to the blouse. I also love the belt, eaarings and ring you wore with your outfit - it looks lovely, and you look fabulous wearing it.
