The last chill weekend for a while brought a casual Saturday morning - off for brunch with L, followed by a little retail therapy for me. New clothes to sustain me through the next little while.
This is my entry for "Visible Monday" over at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style - go, run, now!
- Dress - Huanba, thrifted; purchased here for $19.99
- Sweater (underneath) - August Silk, thrifted; last seen here in September 2017 with striped Dries
- Boots - Lucky Brand, swap from Cat; last worn here for Christmas Day 2017
- Coat (below) - Vassali, consignment; last seen here in December 2017
this one, from the Edinburgh Tartan Shop, thrifted; first worn in November 2017), but didn't have time to photograph it.
Outerwear - it was slightly rainy/heavy misting in the afternoon, and clear in the evening.
- Hat - Delux
- Gloves - Parkhurst
- Scarf - Smoking Lily, c. 1996
All bundled up and ready for much walking and shopping.
I don't like a lot of fuss in my outfits when I'm going shopping.
I bought inserts for these boots, to make them even squishier. Mmmm...squishy boots.
- Earrings - Aldo Accessories
I went to the St. Vincent de Paul, and found another cream cardigan.
Yes, I own two cream cardigans. It's like I'm anticipating spill something on one of them already (I am. I know myself).
I'm always on the lookout for good quality coloured camisoles.
Do I really need another leather coat? No (and stop guffawing!), I don't, but I couldn't resist the white leather racing stripes on this one.
I also feel like a total badass in it, so $20.00 well spent.
Never heard of this brand - A&S Selections.
I also really like this tag.
This garment is manufactured with the best skins [lol - but leather is skin!] however this is a natural product and default it should only add to the charm this item should be protected from rain and snow.
Nice run-on sentence, but yes, I agree - flaws in leather only add to the charm.
From the St V de P, I walked over to the WIN Resale store. I did well in the accessories, including these pristine leather gloves.
They fit me perfectly.
See? The thread is still there, holding the pair together.
I paw through the scarves, feeling for silk, wool and cashmere. Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
The brand is Portolano.
I am a big fan of Peggy Carter, aka "Agent Carter" and have been on the lookout for a bright blue fedora since the show was cancelled after 2 excellent seasons (I highly recommend the show* - it's awesome). *linking 'cause Peggy is the best.
And the snowflake punch on the tag meant it was half price, so $7.00.
I found a Jezebel Charms cuff in the jewelry case for only $6.95.
This has a quote too (so many things I bought that have quotes!).
I spent a couple of hours going through everything really thoroughly, and only came up with one skirt for my efforts.
It's by Talula Babaton, is 100% wool, and was $18.95.
At Winesday, some of my giveaway karma came back to me. As you know, I don't consign or profit from my old clothes - I give them away.
My friend Caro also passed along this vintage 60s cape from her mom's best friend, who is also named Sheila! I am friends with Sheila's kids, Mac and Sarah. I play Ulti with Mac and Sarah used to be in Book Club. Small world.
Look at this fantastic pattern. Not quite a plaid, but close.
Love the vintage labels. This was made in Wales.
Today, I did groceries, then stopped at the WIN Boutique on the way home. I did very well with some inexpensive items.
On the back too, gotta like that!
It's by Guess.
I used to have a cropped mustard cardi (gave it away a few years ago), and I'm always on the lookout for good pieces in yellow.
I'm feeling nostalgic for vests. I used to wear them a lot when I first started blogging, in 2008.
Knowing that Gap (and Banana Republic and J. Crew) put the season and year in most of their clothes...
Speaking of comebacks, high-waisted jeans are making way for low-waisted styles.
Another Gap item, this one from 05/08 (aka May 2008). Hey, 2008, your trends are calling!
I need to do some alterations, though, because these are about 4" too long on me.
"I think the distressed look is still in. Shall I sharpen my claws on them?"
Vizzini played "Where's the Cat?" with me on Saturday.
"Hee hee hee, the Woman will never find me!"
"Curses, she found me again!"
