Oh, I'm sure I don't need to tell you - going back to work after being off for 10 days was rough, my friends. Fortunately, I work with awesome people who get me, and generally steered clear of me until I stopped grumbling and my coffee kicked in.
Knowing I had to take down the Christmas tree and securely pack it all up for our pending office move in February, I had to wear things that I can't snag or ruin. Old stuff!- Cashmere sweater - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in February 2017 with a pouffy black skirt
- Skirt - Nygard, consignment; last worn here in April 2017 with orange and lavender
- Shoes - Marc Jacob, thrifted; last seen here in October 2017 with a double blouse
- Coat (below) - Hilary Radley, thrifted; last worn here (4th outfit) in December 2017
I am also filling in for one of the WW leaders tonight (leaving in 8 minutes!), so I didn't want to scare any of those WW members who don't know the magnitude of my whackitude. Mustn't frighten people.
"I'm outraged that you are leaving me." |
I've had the skirt for many years - it still fits, and it's still in good shape. I see lots of houndstooth skirts in the thrift/consignment stores, but have never found one as nice as this.
Outerwear - brrr, it was chilly out today.
"Is there something I can destroy in your bag? I need revenge!" |
- Toque/scarf - Danier Leather
- Wool gloves - vintage, thrifted
The stuff:
Lovely shoes. Many of my coworkers were disappointed at not seeing my new Fluevogs - don't worry, I will wear them!
Black and blue bling:
My Mr. T chain - it's a very lightweight but good quality solid plastic on grosgrain ribbon.
- Necklace - Club Monaco
- Earrings - Lazy Susan's
- Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
...and four minutes to spare! In case you ever wondered, I can bang out a post in about 15 minutes if I don't tarry and re-read my entries from when I last wore things.
Love that colour on you :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a really hard colour to find, surprisingly! Thanks, Cynthia!
DeleteYou look so pretty with your hair up.
ReplyDeleteLord and Taylor, that's rather posh, isn't it? The jumper is a gorgeous colour and perfect with those fancy shoes. Love the MR T chain.
Chin up, it's nearly Friday! xxx
Aw, thank you! I feel very like a lady, all klassy, when it's up. Eh, Lord & Taylor is department store stuff, so a bit higher end than mall junk, but still mass-manufactured. Thanks, hon!
DeleteI hope your first day back at work after your break went well! I love the cobalt blue with the printed skirt too! :) I'd love more bright knits for winter this year, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled in the opshops!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little envious of your 15 minute post time too! I take at least 30 minutes as I tend to ramble, haha!
Not too bad! I usually take 30 minutes to an hour to do a post - but it's nice to know I can bang one out fast if I have to.
DeleteGoing back to work after a break is definitely rough! I empathise! I love the colour of your sweater and your shoes and nails look fab too. I love the chunky black necklace too! Hope the rest of your work week is less rough! ;) XXX
ReplyDeleteThanks, sweetie! I hope so too!
DeleteYour old clothes ain't too shabby! Hahaha. And it's great that coworkers give way when you need it. I imagine I'd like packing up a tree, it would remind me of ironing, which I find very meditative, although I usually use my steamer now too. I hope you enjoyed putting your feet up when you got home.
ReplyDeleteOne person's old is another's klassy, I say! My coworkers know me pretty well by now. I like taking the tree down, but I had to pack and label it all for our soon-to-happen move. Gah. I love steaming. So smoooooth...
DeleteI see you managed to survive your first day back at work :-) I'm not a big fan of turtlenecks either (at least not on me!) but you're looking quite fab in yours and the colour is gorgeous and it goes really well with the houndstooth skirt. I'm loving the shoes and your blue bling and your Mr.T chain is something else! xxx
ReplyDeleteI did survive! Thanks, Ann!
DeleteYour shoes are divine and match your lovely sweater. The colour really suits you. I'm fortunate to be retired now, so no back to work blues.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you, Polly. I envy not going back to work! One day!
DeleteThe coat!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHee! It's the Unsafe Ocelot!
DeleteWow, 15 minutes is very impressive. I will often take a couple of hours at least between editing photos and research, depending on the post. This is why I don't end up posting very often. I had 10 days off too, and man, was it hard to get up on Tuesday morning to go back to work. Happy New Year Sheila!
ReplyDeleteMy weekend posts can easily take that long - and I enjoy that leisurely pace too. Happy New Year, Shelley!
DeleteYou really suit a skirt and top - fabulous and I love the colours...
ReplyDeleteThank you, hon - it's a go-to outfit for me when I can't muster up enough energy to plan something more complicated.
DeleteLOL your old stuff is fabulous. I love your hounds tooth skirt and that beautiful turtleneck sweater. I know it is a bummer to be back at work after vacation. I feel you. Sending hugs and wishes for warmer days from New York !

Thanks, Elle! Sending you warmer days from the west coast!
DeleteThe skirt is in top shape! the shoes really have game and add to this look. Great choice Sheila.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's still hanging on really well. Thanks, Lorena! I'm glad I went with more interesting shoes with this outfit.
DeleteI felt exactly the same after my 10 days off too. The sweater looks snuggly warm and cute with this sleek skirt. And the shoes, let's not forget how adorable they are, and a great finish to this understated look.
ReplyDeleteAnna x
The shoes made the outfit for me - too boring otherwise, I think, at least for me. Ugh, so hard to be back. When is the next holiday?
