Three Pairs: Blue, Pink and Purple

I didn't realize until one of my coworkers mentioned it, that my hair and my jacket are the exact same colour. My hair has shifted to a more "normal" purple shade vs. the very bright royal purple it's been over the past 2+ years (I'm using a different type and brand of colour), but in my mind's eye I still think of it as that same vibrant shade. It's not.
They say things happen in threes, and that's the third, the other two being my top/hosiery and the jacket lining/shoes.

  • Jacket - Tian Art, thrifted; last seen here in February 2016 with red leather pants
  • Lace top - Express, thrifted; last worn here in November 2017 with a failed skirt
  • Leather dress - Danier Leather, vintage 90s, thrifted; last seen here over plaid for brunch in October 2017
  • Shoes - Effortless Bebe, Fluevog; last worn here in October 2017 with pink and purple
  • Coat (below) - Samuel Dong, thrifted; last seen here on Monday

I had another outfit I wanted to wear, but it features a piece where I need to try on the full outfit...and well, last night I was tired and wanted to go to bed, so I just threw all this stuff together. I wanted to wear this jacket. I was sure I'd worn it in 2017...but I guess not! Total oversight, as I'm very fond of it.
I usually match it with pink or red, blue, white and/or black. Haven't worn it with my "Buffy dress" yet (this 90s leather dress reminds me so much of my favourite vampire slayer), so let's do that.

I always need a top under the slip dress, and I liked the lacy blue, which then called for blue textured tights. Of course!
Bam! There's that hot pink satin lining, and when one owns hot pink metallic shoes, it's a given that at some point they must be worn together.

This is a fabulous coat, isn't it? I'm still tickled that I only paid $8.00 for it in September 2013.
I love it when pieces are finished just as nicely on the back as they are on the front. We're seen from all sides! I loathe when I find a dress or skirt or top that's embellished/patterned on the front and the back is...black. Oh, come on, don't be so chintzy. That's more of a deal-breaker for me than lack of pockets. Which this jacket does not have, but I am okay with.

Here's a close-up of the embroidery:
There's a gold thread outlining all of that blue/red/white stitching. So much work!

Outerwear - it was still not-cold today. I didn't really need the furry pieces, but I liked the snuffly softness.
Hot pink gloves must be worn with hot pink shoes.

  • Toque/scarf - Danier Leather
  • Leather gloves - consignment

The stuff:
These are such comfy shoes - my feet were happy with the lower heel.

Simple bling:
Clean and unfussy.

  • Earrings - vintage 80s, Joyce's
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

  1. Oh, that jacket is fabulous, Sheila! The embroidery is absolutely beautiful and I love the satin lining too! It matches the shoes so well! I bet you were tempted to flash open the jacket as you were walking, to show how awesome the lining is and how well the shoes match! Ha! I would definitely do that too! Ha! ;) XXX

  2. That is a beautiful jacket, glad you could give it a wear again! :) I love embroidery, it's such a special touch on an outfit, even if I don't have a lot of embroidered pieces, I've been loving seeing the trend come up again as its let me add to my wardrobe :)

    1. I know, I'm glad I pulled it out. I love any kind of embellishment on clothes - glad it's a trend right now! Buy it while it's hot!

  3. Nothing organic remains static. It's interesting to observe changes around (and in) us; too often we don't. I like to watch hair-styles and -colors of girlfriends gradually change over time. Sort of lets me live vicariously through their experience.

    1. Yes, you're so right, Ally! I love being able to look back and see how I've physically changed over the years - the blog is such a neat record of my life over the past 10 years. It's awesome to see those changes.

  4. How amazing is that jacket! The colour, the embroidery and - above all - the hot pink satin lining! And such a bargain too. The shoes are fabulous too, I love the detail on the heel, as well as the colour. I know I've said it before, but you really have the most fabulous collection of shoes, Sheila! xxx

    1. Isn't it lovely? I love reminding myself of why I bought something in the first place when I wear it! Thanks so much, Ann!

  5. That jacket is truly wonderful and looks fabulous on you. I love the pink shoes with the blue tights. I notice you wear your lapis lazuli ring a lot; I have one and wear it lots, too. One of my favourite words 'lapis lazuli' - it trips off the tongue!

    1. Thank you so much, Veronica! Yes, I do wear that ring a lot - it's very sturdy and lapis doesn't scratch, plus I paid a lot for it, so I like to wear it! Gotta get that cost-per-wear down, right? I agree, "lapis lazuli" sounds so exotic!

  6. I thought your hair was a different shade of purple, more of a burgundy actually. It's a good colour on you. That jacket is beautiful!

    1. Yes, it has more red in it - it looks like a "natural" purple. Thanks!
