French Friday and First Fluevogs

Finally Friday! I wore one of my newest things, and one of my oldest.
The new-to-me item is this funky jacket. The old things are the shoes. I realized after showing off the pieces to a few of my coworkers that both my jacket and the skirt are made in France. I'm just the klassiest!

  • Jacket - Kenzo, thrifted; purchased here for $36.95
  • Sleeveless sweater (underneath) - INC, thrifted; last seen here in December 2017 with amazing greys
  • Skirt - Andres Courreges, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in March 2017 with lots of dots
  • Shoes - Listen Up Harlow, Fluevog, c. 2006; last worn here in November 2013 for the Traveling Yellow Skirt Freakshow photoshoot at the Castle (worth a look!)
  • Coat (below) - Borgeoiis, vintage 80s menswear, thrifted; last worn here in December 2017

This is the outfit I had to try on, and make sure I got the proportions right. It's tricky with pieces that are deconstructed, like this jacket, to know exactly how they are going to look with other pieces until you actually try them out.
I knew I'd need to wear something high-waisted with it, because it's a cropped jacket (higher in the front and back than on the sides), and I haven't worn my gorgeous thick wool Andres Courreges skirt yet this season, so that part was easy.

I love all the folds and how the "picnic plaid" of the jacket is lined up.
The skirt is incredibly lovely to wear - it's one of my best thrift finds EVER, for $5.00! I have seen Courreges online at 1stdibs for hundreds of dollars. Quality stuff!

A weird little side view for you so that you can see how the jacket hangs. It's kind of like a cocoon.
The black slash is a pocket - the material is a shiny black brocade, and also covers the inside of the arm openings, and inside of the front placket.

Outerwear - brrr, it was clearer today, but cold! It was freezing rain on the way home. I missed having a hat or toque.
I made one of my male coworkers try this on (he's a short guy) to show him how you can find really good quality stuff in thrift stores. He couldn't believe I'd only paid $12.00 for the jacket! Yes!

  • Fur boa - thrifted
  • Wool gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
Amazing shoes, aren't they? They are the first Fluevogs I ever owned, purchased pre-Ephemera- I first wore them on the blog here in April 2008, nearly 10 years ago!

Stone bling:
Rather than go with plain ol' accessories, I played with a turquoise and mixed stone palette.

  • Bracelet - gift from L
  • Earrings - Joyce's
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

This is my last free-ish weekend for a while, so I'm going to enjoy it away from the computer. Have a lovely weekend - I'll be back on Sunday!

  1. You picked so well, I really like the way these pieces work together, like they were made to be worn together!

I don't think I have shoes that have lasted 10 years - unless they are pairs I haven't worn often, so I'm very impressed at that! :)

  3. This outfit really works well together. The jacket is such an amazing shape, and you can just see from your photos that the Courreges skirt is great quality. It's a lovely shape and colour. I'm amazed that your shoes have lasted 10 years. They are gorgeous, but I couldn't walk in such high heels! Have a lovely weekend! xxx

    1. It's so cool, isn't it? The skirt - I wish you could feel it. It is just amazing. My feet are still a little achy even a few days later. I'll wear them again in 3 years!

Blue and black is a favorite color combination of mine and this outfit excels. Love the shoes and the spectator look to them . Fabulous overcoat, too.
