Plum Tired, and a Cat Nap

I think I'm getting sick - thickness in the throat, pressure in my sinuses, headache. I hope not - I have too much to do over the next...6 weeks! Anyway, what to do?
Fake it! Pretty florals, deep purple velvet and funky boots. Nope, I don't see a sicky here!

  • Blouse - Violet & Claire, thrifted; last seen here in October 2017 with a tubular dress
  • Skirt - Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche, vintage 80s, thrifted; first worn here in February 2017 with shades of wine
  • Boots - Prepare Map, Fluevog; last seen here in January 2017 with a velvet jacket
  • Coat (below) - T Tahari, thrifted; last worn here on New Year's Eve

I had forgotten that I only bought this wonderful velvet skirt last February! I packed it away at the end of March and totally lost it in the archives of my mind.
It has lovely deep slash side pockets. And YES, it is real Yves Saint Laurent, from his Rive Gauche line. Made in France - KLASSY. It is the softest velvet ever.
It has no slit for walking, so little steps!

Like the rest of Canada and the US, we're getting a cold snap, so bundle up!
Oh, this is like wearing a sleeping bag, my friends. How did I live before this jacket?

  • Beret - consignment
  • Scarf - gift from L
  • Gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
I tend to not wear these boots too frequently because they are a pain to take off and put back on - no zippers, only delicate leather laces (that are very tasty to little kitties, if you know what I mean).

Simple bling:
A couple of knuckle-duster rings and cat-bait earrings.

  • Earrings - Myka, gift from L
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

I've been leaving my snuggly cardigan out for Vizzini to snooze under/on/around.
"Don't leave me! I promise I won't eat your shoes."
 How could I resist?
"Oh yeah, right there."
Such a sweet little guy.

  1. Oh no! I hope you aren't coming down with anything serious and you get better quickly! There always seems to be more bugs going around in winter, it's hard to stay healthy through it!

  2. I hope those symptoms come to nothing. Not nice at this gloomy time of year to feel under the weather.
Those boots are divine, I love them! Rive Gauche was a wonderful label, I bought a suit in a charity shop for stupid cheap a few years ago and made loads on eBay as it didn't make me feel fab. Your skirt is gorgeous, I can just imagine how luxe that velvet feels!
Aww, look at Vizzini! Ours have noticed the travel bags on the spare bed and they aren't happy! xxx

    1. Nope, unfortunately, I am actually sick, but I'm soldiering through. Oh, good for you on the charity shop find! This skirt is just the nicest quality. Vizzini is spoiled with love. I know what you mean about the travel bags! We get dagger-eyes when our bags come out!

  3. I hope you don't get ill, I had a nasty cough, cold and sinus problem before Christmas. I love the colours of your outfit. Vizzini looks so comfy on your cardigan x

  4. I'm keeping my fingers crossed you're not getting sick, Sheila! I can almost feel the softness of the velvet after reading your description of that skirt. The boots are utterly fabulous, such a pity they're such a pain to put them on and get them off. Like our Phoebe, Vizzini seems to know the best places for a nap. I can't put anything on the bed, or she's there claiming it as her own! xxx

    1. Aw, thank you, Ann! Yes, the boots annoy me - I wish they had a zip! Vizzini claims everything as his too!

  5. Sheila you look gorgeous in this deep purple color and I love the florals. I hope you are staying warm and yes, indeed, it is cold and snowy here. A great excuse to cook. Perhaps you can try some hot tea with lemon and ginger. Sometimes that helps me. I hope you feel better soon. Vitamin C too !

    1. Thank you so much, Elle! If I liked cooking, I might do that, ha ha! Hot tea sounds really good though - good idea! Thank you!

  6. Isn't it the best thing ever when you stash something away while it's still new and then have the joy of rediscovering it many months later? This velvet skirt looks a dream to wear too.
I hope you manage to shake off the virus before it takes hold on you. Echinacea and Citricidal are both worth a try to boost the immune system. Good luck!

  8. Oh wow how could you forget about such a marvellous skirt Sheila ?! (guess that can happen when there is a lot of goodies in your closet!) I love it. Even though I can relate to having to take little steps when wearing a garment, I picked up a Carolina Herrera skirt at the consignment shop and need so move slowly in it too!

    1. Out of sight, out of mind, Lorena! I didn't see it for 6 months, so it was a pleasant surprise when I unpacked it. I know, they didn't make those older pieces for taking big strides, did they?
