Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up: Spectacle Spectacular, Many Outings, Cat on the Deck and Shopping

Happy Easter! It's been a busy long weekend over here, packed to the gills with adventures and fun!
I always cut L's head off (he's too tall), but here we are, ready to go out on Friday afternoon.

Three of my near and dear friends have birthdays in April/May, so we arranged to all meet up downtown and celebrate.
Friends were in town as well, so our group ended up being about 16 people. Whew!

  • Top - Land's End, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
  • Skirt - no label, thrifted; purchased here for $24.95
  • Shoes - Ralph Lauren, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in September 2016 with raging tiger print
  • Jacket (below) - Smoking Lily; last worn here (4th outfit) in September 2016 over purple lace

We walked to town, and had errands to run on both ways, so I went for full comfort. This lovely velvet top was so utterly soft - people were stroking it all afternoon!

Look at all the lovely ends.
I gave the skirt a good steaming to get all the wrinkles out.

L is sure taking a while digging around in the closet.
These shoes ended up being lovely to walk all that time (I stood most of the day as well).

I only wore this jacket once all of last year, but it's still a keeper. So shiny!
Bare legs for the second day in a row! It was a little chilly by early evening.

The stuff:
I do love a good sturdy black sandal.

Sparkly bling:
All the hearts!

  • Earrings - vintage fair
  • Death Star ring - Soul Flower
  • Pearl ring - vintage fair

One of my errands was to pick up my new glasses! World, here they are.
They are aqua blue and are titanium with a non-shiny finish.

They are by Theo, and are the Montana model.
I picked out the bright yellow and green case.
I love them!
 A groovy card.

And here they are!
They look a little different than my purple ones, but I like being able to shake the look up. I also had my hair cut on Friday.

This is my entry for "Visible Monday" over at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style. Go!

  • Dress - Lav & Kush, consignment; first worn here in July 2016 with all the turquoise
  • Shoes - Aldo, thrifted; last seen here in July 2016 with a dark floral
  • Jacket (below) - Vero Moda, thrifted; last worn here in September 2016 with lace and polka dots

I walked to and from town for lunch with L then spent Saturday afternoon getting ready for friends over for the late afternoon/evening.
"Hmm...there is something very fascinating right here."
First boob window of the year! And bare legs again.
The glasses are taking a little bit of getting used to - they are lighter than the purple ones, and also a slightly stronger prescription.
I am having so much fun rediscovering my spring/summer wardrobe. All my favourite things, like this jacket!

The stuff:
These shoes probably won't last past this summer - they aren't super high-quality.

Silver bling:
Simple pieces.

  • Dragon bangle - local
  • Plain bangle - local
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

We now have one of the deck doors open and have moved Vizzini's biggest post out there. Officer Vizzini wasted no time.
"Reporting for duty."
He is loving the sun (when it's out). He varies between running around the ledge and mrowing at the starlings, and sleeping.
"I'm practicing for a long summer of lounging in the sun."
Typical cat!

Today, I went to town to get groceries, then took one of my coworkers thrift shopping. We went to Flavour Upstairs then to the WIN Warehouse store, just before it closed early.
A less complicated outfit would have been better for trying stuff on, in retrospect.

  • Top - Abercrombie & Fitch, thrifted; last seen here in September 2016 with lavender and orange
  • Skirt - no label, thrifted; no idea when I last wore it
  • Shoes - Down to Earth Hadfield, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) in January with red trousers
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather, consignment

We took our time and really went through Flavour Upstairs.
I wore nylons - it was a little chilly out there today!

And thicker outerwear was needed. I added a silk Ralph Lauren scarf (consignment), and my Parkhurst red gloves.
And...ready to do some shopping!

The stuff:
A walk to and from town, plus shopping for hours - and these shoes did the job. Yay for flats!

  • Ear-balls - Dior

I'm always on the lookout for "upgrades" to existing staples in my closet. I have this marigold skirt, but the waistband has stretched out, and it's not the greatest quality.
Well, now I have a new one! This one is 100% wool, gorgeously made (probably vintage). There's no label in it - it is probably hand-made.
Look at that detail: a nice hook and catch at the waistband, AND a snap fastener. Classy! There is a ton of hand stitching on this skirt. It was $14.99.

I found another wonderful 50s circle skirt - this one is sky blue and brown.
It's cotton and again shows evidence of being hand-made.
The sash belt is attached to the back of the waistband.

Someone cut the labels out somewhere along the way, but there's a tiny big left. I can see that the size is 44, so this was probably made somewhere in Europe.
$14.99 for this beauty as well.

This is a total "grandma blouse" - but I love the colour and the fit.
Look at that vintage label!
Shirt-Tales by Style Rite - catchy! It's made in Canada, was $12.99 and is pre-Great Size Shift with that "old size" 10 (more like a modern size 6).

I have seen this tunic on previous visits to Flavour Upstairs, but this time it was on the $5.00 rack, so I made the call.
It's a cotton/viscose blend, and is by Allison Wonderland, a local clothing maker.
Pretty sure it was a lot more than $17.99, much less $5.00! I have a couple other pieces by them, including this denim-look jacket, this chartreuse green velvet jacket.

Over at WIN, we barely had time to look at the shoes and the vintage section before they closed early.
I love these fabulous purple, taupe and black shoes.

They're leather and are by Nine West.
So cute!

And barely any wear.
Only $18.95 - done!

I need to be restrained around crazy patterns and shiny things. It's a bit of an issue.
Otherwise I come home with crazy things like this shiny black and gold jacket.
I am in love! It's like a room decorated in 1983.

Look at the beautiful designs!
Again, this piece has no label and is all handmade, just beautiful. It has a small shoulder pad, but nothing too crazy.

Only $12.95!
Even if I only wear it once, that's still good, right? For a jacket with pagodas?

Well, Vizzini, what do you think of all this?
"I think you spent too much time away from me today."
I hear that there was much cuddling with you and L...
"Lies! I've been on duty all afternoon."
You do seem very relaxed.
"Keeping an eye on the seagulls is a full-time job."
Wishing you all a very happy Easter long weekend! I'm back to work tomorrow, boo, woe is me.

  4. Hahaha, your Vizzini cracks me up. Great weekend roundup. Your glasses are EXCELLENT. This is the second time in the past few weeks that Theo glasses have come up - I did a street style post on a woman who adores that brand too. The blue of these is spectacular with your hair, which is looking mighty fine with that cut. Bare legs, you are a hardier breed than I am but I hope to soon follow suit. Great shopping finds!

    1. He is a character, that cat. I'm glad you like the glasses! I was so certain, then eeee...should I have gone more conservative? I second-guess myself. L's glasses are Theo as well - such awesome designs! I'm wimping out today - back to nylons.

    1. Thank you, Elle! I often leave in interesting or funny backgrounds. I have no idea why L was digging in there for so long! I'm a huge fan of cats' eye glasses - so retro. Ha, I know - it take me right back to the 80s.

  6. Golly aren't those new glasses fab? I love 'em! And hey, yes I remember that lovely little jacket - how cute. The gold jacket too with your tulle skirt is such a dream.

Shopping went well, I see. Yellow skirt looks brilliant and why, oh why wouldn't you end up with a black and gold shiny jacket? I sure would!

  10. Your Vizzini and my Sylvester would make quite a pair - so much attitude between the two of them (and charm too). Love the new specs - that is my favourite shape of frame, which I will probably go back to after I get tired of my current pair.

The Pagoda jacket is very cool; I'll be interested to see how you style it. You look very "Swish" in the velvet top and floaty skirt.
