Shiny Skirt...and Bruce Lee

Today is my ex's birthday. I've been married almost 13 years, haven't been with my ex for close to 16 years, and yet, every year, I remember that it's his birthday. Happy 40th Birthday, Q, ya jerk.

But before I get too distracted, here's my new skirt and top:
Q and I used to watch Bruce Lee movies - a lot. One of them was "The Chinese Connection" (aka "Fist of Fury", not be confused with "Fists of Fury"). There's a cheesy character (a bad guy, of course), who has a funny line of dialogue where he grins, nods and rubs his lapels and says, "Niiiiice...shiny suit."

Weird how your mind makes connections, isn't it?

The skirt was around $35, the brown top (it's not a jacket, it's much thinner) ties in front with a nice bow and was $20.

The stuff:
I love the colours in the skirt - they have a really strong purple tone to them, and I like the grey and brown together.

Tie top (Pelican Cove, consignment), blouse (La Classe Couture), skirt (Mexx, consignment), shoes (Jessica Simpson), ring (Sarah Coventry, vintage 70s), earrings (Plum).

  1. Isn't it funny how you remember details like that for such a long time? I wish I could purge my mind of details about people I wish I could forget.

I love that dress! The colors really caught my eye when your post loaded, and the shoes look very purple-y next to the skirt, too.

  2. Love the skirt. I am also very into brown and grey together right now. That probably means it's a trend that I've seen or something.

PS - I do the same thing with and ex's birthday. How do you shut that off??

  3. I remember ALL of my exes birthdays. Seriously, brain, how about we make room for some useful bits of info?

That is one sumptuously shiny skirt!

  4. Beautiful colours, and such lovely shininess!

My feet are size 9ish. Somewhere between 9 and 10, depending on fit. **looks hopeful**

  6. Kari, I know - why can't I remember current things, like my friends' birthdays, or to get milk on the way home?? Thanks, but it's not a dress - it's a gold shiny top and a patterned skirt. :) I will probably do purple with it at some point.

Thanks, Tina! I never liked brown/grey together, but I am liking it now. I don't think you can shut that memory thing off - we're getting old. :(

Sal, I'm so glad it's not just me! Thanks, I love the shiny!

Hey, sweetie! Thank you. Hey, you are right in my size range. I will hang onto giveaway shoes for you to try (I'll bring them to Book Club).

Thanks, Eednic! Aw, I'm sure your skirt is lovely.
