Blue Blazer and Wallpaper Pants

Nothing new in today's outfit - this is all stuff I've worn before.
Just now noticing that a button is undone! Heavens!

I always have a stock of outfits (top/bottom/shoes) ready in my closet, so that I can decide the night before what I want to wear the next day. It saves a lot of time. I wanted comfy shoes and that decided this particular outfit. Wearing this amazing blazer again was just icing on the cake.

  • Blazer - KL for Karl Lagerfeld, vintage 80s, consignment; first seen here in April
  • Blouse - Jacob, thrifted; last worn here in July with navy blues
  • Trousers - Noa Noa; last seen here in June with a NOPE vest
  • Shoes - Seychelles; last worn here in September in a moon-themed outfit

It is a fabulous piece of design, very early Karl Lagerfeld. Check out those lapels' asymmetry!
I love the curvy hem too. And considering its era (pre-1989), those are pretty small shoulder pads.

Gorgeous as this garment is, it's tricky to style. It looks best done up, so that also limits it.
I keep imagining it with black bike shorts and 18-hole Doc Martens, dancing like MC Hammer! Totally era appropriate for 1989; those were some fun days of fashion!

This is what I have on under it - I didn't take the jacket off all day, though.
Just thought you'd like to see me just chillin' in my wallpaper pants. That pattern is woven into the fabric, not printed on it and the seams inside are all bound seams. They also have good pockets.

The blazer pockets, on the other hand, are really shallow.
 Just for show, really.

Outerwear - a nice silk and cashmere scarf and a thin pair of gloves was all I needed.
 And I carried those home.

  • Scarf - gift from Mom
  • Gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
Our office building property managers threw an Oktoberfest luncheon today for all the tenants - there was an oompah band (with two accordions!), loads of German food (potato salad and schnitzel), and caricatures. My glittery shoes went over well.

Gold bling:
One of my coworkers really liked the gold necklace. "It balances it all out."

  • Necklace - consignment
  • Earrings - Biko, consignment
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

Hey, these things don't happen by accident.

  2. lovely color combo and fabulous jacket (the shape and amazing lapels are so cool!). I totally love the idea of bike shorts and DrMartens! 80's rock!
And I love your wallpaper pants, such a quality piece, and they fits you like a dream!
Fabulous accessorizing (as usual) and lovely how the necklace-earrings match your shiny shoes (bookend!), brilliant!

    1. Ha, maybe I will do that look just for fun one day! Thanks so much, Monica! I really love the pants. Yes! Gold bookends - that was totally what I was going for. :)

  3. It is such a beautiful jacket and even if it does limit how you can wear it as it looks better buttoned up I hope you do keep it! Sometimes we just need fun pieces that make us happy even if they aren't ones we can wear multiple different ways!

    1. It's really a gorgeous piece - I'm so glad I found it, even if I don't wear it that frequently. It's a keeper, don't worry. I so agree - not every piece has be able to be worn a million ways!

  4. Hurray for wallpaper pants! Intriguing and well-made, the best. I also love that blazer by Karl. Great styling. Maybe you'll show us your MC Hammer version when it gets a bit warmer too. Now you've made me hungry for an Oktoberfest luncheon. A hot dog from a street vendor just won't do.

    1. Yup, Noa Noa is always really good quality! Lol, I don't actually OWN black bike shorts and 18-hole Docs...or I totally would do that!

The Oktoberfest food was very heavy. I'd rather have a hot dog!

  5. Glorious pairing of the wallpaper pants and blazer. That is quite an unusual piece, and I can understand it's tricky to style. I'm seconding Monica's and Melanie's comments: you should really show us the MC Hammer version some time! Oh, and I'm always having a couple of outfit choices hanging ready as well. I'd never make it to work on time if I didn't, as I'm famous for dithering over details. Not really a fan of Oktoberfest, though ... xxx

    1. Thanks, Ann! It's such a good piece - as I noted above, I don't actually own those shorts/Docs, or I totally would model this look, you know I would!

Yeah, Oktoberfest is not my thing either. The food was good, but really heavy. Oof.

    1. Nope, lots of places celebrate it. Any opportunity for beer and heavy food??

  8. I love this combination. I have to admit I’m a sucker for pants with pattern/print/texture. I think the pants are beautiful and if they were in my size I’d be wearing them! The jacket waa a fabulous find and I love the hue of blue.

The only thing I find hard shopping in consigment/thrift is that if you fall im love with something and it’s not your size, it’s usually the end of it. But today I scored a beautiful espresso coloured short leather jacket, pretty happy about that :)

    1. Thanks, Dar - I got the blazer with you and Ally, remember?

True, that is a down-side, but when you find that gem! It's the best feeling. Love that jacket on you!

  10. Great cut on that blazer - and the wall paper print trousers are lovely.
Lately I have been re wearing items. I no longer have much time for having "ready to go" outfits. I am pretty much just throwing things on and trying to get through the days-

    1. Thank you! Yes, I need to make sure I'm integrating old things with my new-to-me things - I love shopping, though! I hear ya - I hope you're getting some good down-time in, Lorena.
