Casual Friday: Bustier and Hot Pink Leather

It's Friday! I need to get this post done, write and schedule the Shoe Shine post for tomorrow morning, change my 'do to "weekend hair" and change my outfit. Time to party!
Yes, this is my Casual Friday. I don't do Casual Friday like most people.

This outfit was built around two new-to-me pieces that I picked up in thrift stores here last weekend: the denim stretch bustier and the pink leather skirt.
Review of the denim bustier: I need a size down. I was pulling it up all day. Maybe it will work better over a jacket or a thicker blouse. I'll give it at least one more outfit. B+

The blouse is so fun to wear - I adore big swooshy cuffs. I last wore it here (3 outfit, after cat pictures) with blue in July.
Butt shot! I loved wearing this pink skirt all day - it is quality, thick and soft. My lipstick matched!

The stuff:
I wore the black belt so that I wouldn't have to wear a lanyard for my keys at work (I hate those), but didn't like it at my waist (the high waist of the skirt interfered). And I wore black shoes because black belt. I last wore these uber-comfy kitten heels here in June with a mod skirt.

Minimalist bling:
Love the curve of those earrings!

Blouse (CAbi, consignment), skirt (Evan Davies, vintage 80s, thrifted), shoes (Town Shoes, thrifted), belt (Bianca Nygard), earrings (vintage 80s, Joyce's).

Have an awesome weekend!
Stay tuned for tomorrow's Shoe Shine linky party,
open all week!

  2. I have a very similar bustier from Smart Set (only I bought it retail... I can remember wearing it for the first time 7 years ago, but who knows how long before that I bought it!!) and found it's a weird fit -- mine is tight in the bodice and loose in the chest. Granted, everything was loose in the chest for me back then and I just didn't care). I think I last wore it here: http://carascloset.blogspot.ca/2013/07/all-sucked-in.html
It will be interesting to see how you style it, if you keep it around despite your fit issues with it!

  3. I love the look of bustiers worn over t-shirts and blouses - too bad it's a bit big (what size is it? Maybe I could buy it from you?) I have a pair of jeans in hot pink leather that I can't fit into anymore, but can't bear to get rid of because of the colour and softness of the leather. There's something about hot pink leather that is just tooo cool - it's that combination of fabulous and tacky an 80's sort of way!

It's a combination of over the top fabulousness and 1980's cheese!

  5. That skirt looks of great quality, I like how you wore it with the bustier.
Maybe you can get it fixed ?

  6. For a $4.00 bustier? Not worth it! I'll just pass it along to someone else. :)
