Well, Blah-Di-Dah

Today was not a good day. I'm having one of my periodic bouts of the blues, the greys and the mean reds. And this was a bad choice of outfit for that.
I felt invisible all day, and I've decided that I don't like this blouse on me.

I like all the things about the blouse, just not how it looks when I wear it. I know it's not me, it's the blouse, but today it felt like it was me. So buh-bye it goes. Fortuitously, one of my coworkers was raving about how much she liked it, so after it's washed, she's getting a new blouse.
I first wore it here in July with a brown full skirt. Now that I've worn it with this concrete leather pencil skirt, I feel I've done all I can. It doesn't inspire me to try anything else. Good thing I only paid $10 for it.
And yes, another leather skirt. I was having misgivings about this one too, but I think the blandness of the overall outfit was colouring my judgement. I like it, it's a good skirt and it fits well (plus, pockets). I last wore it here in April with bright red and felt much better about it. Sorry, skirt, I will do better next time.

The stuff:
I've been nice to my feet all week with fairly low shoes. These are fabulous to wear, but I'll be packing them up for the fall/winter at the end of September. I last wore them in April as well, here (3rd outfit) with a lace dress and a fur hat (really).

Plain bling:
Snaky belt, sparkly earrings.

Blouse (Yeou-Tung Hungniang Best Ladies, vintage 80s), skirt (no label, thrifted), shoes (Fugitive, thrifted), belt (thrifted), earrings (don't remember).

  1. O, darling.....I've just been having a very bad couple of weeks; the blues are a bastard when they get a grip on one. I'm just feeling like being back in the world a bit, and you popped right on up!
Yeah, if you just don;t feel right, move it ON! I can see why you like the blouse, but I also see why you don't. It's good to give garments a second chance, and then BYE BYE if it just isn't working.
The shoes are fab, I'm being a little nicer to my feet at the moment and wearing granny shoes most days! The skirt is great, maybe with red. or hot pink? I quite like grey, although I rarely wear it.

  2. Isn't it fascinating how our clothes and colours can change our mood or enhance it. From an outsider you looked perfectly gorgeous, but obviously colours are more you. I hope the blues and greens and reds and oranges and sequins invade your spirit once again soon! Xo JJ

  3. Yes, What JJ said: to my eyes, this looks fabulous, but you have to feel it, right? Great that you've already found a good home for the blouse. And so glad you're keeping the shoes. xox

  4. Tell me about it, sister. I'm suffering from overwork and lack of enthusiasm. How 'bout we go on a motorcycle trip together?

  5. I have had a rough go of work and other crap lately too, I feel ya. I can see why this blouse isn't you, it just lacks the usual pizzaz you put on much of what you wear. The soft colors will be great for someone else, but you need something that will make you shine! I hope today is a better day!!

  6. It's always great to pass something onto someone who loves it.

I think it's just the time of year. Been struggling with some depression myself lately. Hard to handle

  7. I've been having the worst days ever too. But life goes on.
I have to say that i like the top but if you're not feeling it - off it goes.
If I worked with you, I'd compliment you A LOT, you know, just in case you decided to give something away, I'd be on top of the list !

  8. I'm sorry you're in the midst of the blahs (and I appreciate the Breakfast at Tiffanys reference) I am very familiar with those, and it calls for an outfit that makes you feel as fab as humanly possible, given your mental state, and that blouse isn't cutting it. It's a good skirt, but it needs a funkier companion. Hope the clouds part soon!

  9. I've been in the dumps this week, too, and I always seem to put on something monochrome and boring when I feel down. But that's not me, just as it's not you! We need color and sparkle and texture and shine (thanks to Clinton and Stacey for those four important fashion concepts)! Feel better soon!

    1. I think it's colour, PATTERN, texture, shine. :) Although more sparkle is always good!
