Purples and Golds in Silk, and Cat Undercover

I'm looking at my dresses very critically these days. I tend to collect them.
I wore a vintage slip under this, but I was a wee bit boobtastic in it.
After all, dresses are so cool! But often, there is only so much you can do with them, and then you get bored, and the next thing you know, you haven't worn it in years.

Not so (yet) with this lovely silk dress.
I last wore it here (2nd outfit) in April for a full day shopping and hanging out when my mother-in-law was in town.
It was lovely and comfy today. This is my third wear of it, and based on my usual habits, it will probably be the last for this summer. I will pack it away at the end of September, wear it a couple of times next spring/fall, then give it away. That's just how I roll.

The stuff:
I was sure I'd worn these lavender shoes with the dress before, but nope, must have just been wanting to match them up! I last wore them here last month with grey lace and pink bling.

Bronze bling.
I love that Midzo cuff.

Dress (Club Monaco, consignment), shoes (Camper), cuff (Midzo, thrifted), earrings (Plum), ring (Twang & Pearl).

Just before I left for work this morning, I spotted Officer Vizzini doing some undercover work.
"Shhhh...I'm deep undercover, watching the crows."
We've been pulling all the curtains while we're at work during the day to keep our place from getting too hot. This is the only window in the living room/dining room he can look out of - of course, he can still go past the curtains onto the deck.

As soon as I petted him, he mrowed and came to visit me.
"I'm a secret agent undercover cat!"
I'm sure the crows were amused.

  1. Gorgeous colours in that dress! I try not to buy anything silk, despite how nice it feels just because most of the time it has to be drycleaned.

    1. Depending on the garment, I machine wash (delicate) most of my silk tops and unlined dresses. I dry them flat.

  2. That dress looks so sleek and comfortable, and so luxurious at the same time. Lovely!

Talking about caring for silk, my husband had a raw silk Hawaiian shirt for a few years, and one day it literally shredded off him! I guess his sweat and body heat just ate up the silk - probably 'cause he's full of piss and vinegar. :p

  3. Gorgeous dress. I feel the same about mine - some have so much "personality" I get tired of seeing them! Hey, Officer V, keeping it on the down low. xox

  4. I never dry clean silk either - I hand wash or machine wash on cold/delicate and it's always fine.
Your dress is lovely, beautiful colours. I couldn't bear to give away my frocks after only a few wears, it's the simplicity and ease of dresses that I love - put it on, and you're ready! xxx

  5. I wash my silk too. Gorgeous dress! Summer dresses are more restricted than the other seasons, with no mix and match ability. I love that cuff too. But then all your stuff is gorgeous!
Glad Officer Vizzini is on the case. Can't trust those crows! Smart-Blue our cat was on the job today chattering at the birds daring to eat off our bird feeder. But he totally ignores the budgies in the cage right next door. They must be family...or subordinate officers :-) XO JJ

  6. I had not thought of it that way, but I do think that I collect dresses too! The great thing about them is they make your life easy when getting dressed, it's just one garment you can usually not go wrong with.
I am currently being very critical of my closet and its quite an exercise..

  7. it's a beautiful dress, lovely colors and shape, and silk is usually so comfy and feel so good!.
I'm actually loving dresses more than I was used, because I'm wearing my summer dresses even in autumn or springtime. Love layering!

  8. Gorgeous dress and shoes!! I will be sad when you give the dress up; it looks so great on you! And those shoes oh my how I covet those! Vizzini is clearly an expert undercover spy. He is quite right; crows must be watched for they are always up to no good.

  9. Absolutely gorgeous dress; I love the colors.

I know what you mean about dresses; I too tend to collect them but there really is a limit on how many ways you can style a dress.
