Lazy Monday - Wear a Dress!

I hate Mondays, especially after a crazy social weekend like I just had. I never feel like putting any effort into my wardrobe planning for Monday. What to do?

Wear a dress!
I got this beauty at Dots (they sell off samples made by manufacturers, all kinds of name brands) - it's Mac & Jac and was $39.99. NOTE: I've heard there is a store named Dots in the US - it is not the same business as the ones in western Canada. US Dots (click here), Canada Dots (no link - it's a bare bones store, just racks and clothes, no displays, staff not there to help you!). I love the neckline, the little puff sleeves (also with nice trim), the awesome grey print with lemon and lime!, and the industrial zipper on the back.
Here's a couple of head shots for Nan in Minnesota, who wants to copy my haircut. It's trimmed up really short in the back (I'm 2 weeks away from my next time, I get it done every 6 weeks), then angled down in the front, with a hard bang/fringe. My hair has natural wave, so this would look a lot sleeker if I used a flat-iron, but I'm lazy that way.

This is the best shot of the colour of my dress - the green and yellow are almost neon, which doesn't photograph well:
And yes, I just coloured my hair this weekend!

The stuff:
The brooch and clip-on earrings are from my Grandma J - I've had them since I was about 17-18 years old, when I used to visit her on the way home from university. They aren't marked but they are super sparkly and very nice quality.
A close-up:
Pretty...

Dress (Mac & Jac), grey tights (forgot), shoes (Guess), jewelry (Grandma J, 50s vintage).

  1. Your hair color looks pretty! It's so fun to be all bright and shiny and red from a fresh dye.

I went with a dress too today, similarly because I didn't want to think about pairing separates together. Funny how that works out. :) I love the print on your dress.

  2. Oh my! It's all good. Don't know how you all keep coming up with such a variety of clothing! Your hair style is great. I think it is your bangs that make it so amazing.

The brooch and earrings are definitely treasures. In my opinion, it will be hard to top this outfit this week! (But I'm sure you'll be able to do it.)

  9. Thanks, Kari! I love a fresh dye-job. I saw! Your gorgeous blue dress - dresses are so easy!

Rebecca, thank you! I just get things I really like and then play in my closet for a while until I come up with something I like. Thanks so much for the comments on my hair - I am really bad about styling it.

    Chris, thank you!

    Thanks, Kristen!

TexNY, yes, it's not the same store, just the same name. Thanks!

Thanks, Tat! I love wearing my grandma's stuff.

Thanks, Sal! No, no, see the edit I added - not the same store.

Alison, thanks. Yeah, I really treasure her stuff.

Thank you, Lorena! That is a huge compliment, that you would wear this. :)

  10. Love the new dye job - I'm jealous. My hair has just gotten too dark to dye red anymore. I'd have to bleach it out first and I am not willing to do that right now. Maybe after the wedding...

As usual, you've got great grandma jewelry!
