A Froth of Tulle and a Preppy Blazer

I had a work event after in the late afternoon/early evening, so no time to chit-chat, let's get right to the outfit, which is a veritable FROTH of tulle.
Right?? I am in love with this skirt. I feel like a little kid - I want to wear it every day, with everything!

  • Blazer - Adidas, thrifted; last worn here in December 2023 with sparkles and more grey
  • Sleeveless shirt - Denver Hayes, consignment; last seen here layered under the lattice dress in June
  • Sweater vest - Theory, thrifted; last worn here in July for a walk in the park
  • Skirt - Papillon; purchased here for $39.99
  • Shoes - Sol Sana; last seen here in July with a denim fin and chartreuse

This is how most people saw me, by which I mean my coworkers (plus some random humans on the bus home.
They were gobsmacked by my swirling pink skirt.

I may have twirled for a few.
The "gym-shirt" grey blazer is Adidas - it's one of those sneaky pieces! I read that the preppy look is a trend (yet again, ha ha), so I had to give that a go.

I wore my sleeveless pink shirt under this Theory sweater/vest, and then layered a gold necklace under the collar.
I only had my jacket off briefly - I needed the tougher vibe that the jacket gave.

Incognito. It was chilly in the morning, and I was very happy that I had this gorgeous thick silk scarf on.
My pockets are useless! I nearly dunked my work phone in the toilet due to insufficient pocket depth.

Accoutrements:
The Return of the Nipple-less Merman!

  • Silk scarf - Valentino, vintage, consignment

The stuff:
I love these shoes - they'll be packed away for fall/winter. I've had them for 6 years and they still look new. The more shoes you have, the longer they last.

Gold bling:
I wore the shell pinned to my jacket lapel - it tied to the watery pattern of the scarf, get it?

  • Gold/stone bracelet - D'Orlan, vintage 60s, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Gold bangle - thrifted
  • Brooch - Jonette Jewelry, vintage 80s, consignment; purchased here for $16.00
  • Necklace - Givenchy, vintage 80s
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
  • Earrings - thrifted

  1. Super outfit for the office and a work event afterwards - professh with pizzazz! The sneaky addidas jacket has the perfect color and proportion for this skirt, and I like the peek-a-boo pink of the sleeveless shirt at the neckline. The pink tulle skirt was an excellent haul! Your love of matching appeals to my sense of matching. The gray stripes of the sweater vest play nicely with the gray of the jacket. Great outfit to commingle fun, flutter and strength!

  2. Oh, I love this! The wonderful floufy (boy, spell check does not like made-up words) skirt with the “soft academia” feel of the jacket and tops; and it looks wonderful on you. This is fire!

  4. Love, love, love it. The juxtaposition between the tule skirt and the sweatshirt/cardigan is fab.
I saw it on Substack as well. I didn't know Substack and decided I wouldn't join. I have difficulty enough keeping up with things. But good on you to venture out.
The shoes are my kinda shoes.
