Crop Top, Orange Leopard and a Coat in August

I spent some time last night in my closet, putting together outfits and getting my creativity flowing.
I like to wear my new-to-me items right away, so that I know if they're keepers or if they're destined for Limbo.

  • Top - Atelier Delphine, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
  • Skirt - Scotch & Soda, consignment; last worn here in May with a space jacket
  • Shoes - Down to Earth Hadfield, Fluevog; last seen here in April with neon orange and pebbles
  • Leather coat (below) - Eileen Fisher, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in May for a theatre date

This thrifted organic cotton (from Japan! So classy!) crop top is a keeper.
Most of my spring/summer clothes follow those seasons' palettes of bright, saturated colours, so it's tricky finding other pieces that will go nicely with olive green.

I am happy to sneak in another wearing of this wonderful bias-cut silky skirt (despite the egregiously horrid white back-side visible in the Stair Pic).
It's delightfully swooshy! Orange leopard is so pretty.

I layered a black tank and sporty shorts under this for warmth.
The air was distinctly chilly today!

Incognito.
I grabbed this brown leather jacket, thinking it would be perfect for you know, wearing a coat in August (she said, exasperated), since it doesn't have any kind of front fastenings, and it has pockets.

I was happy until it blew open in the wind.
I one-hand-clutched it all the way home. Brrr!

Accoutrements and stuff:
This scarf and these shoes are longtime friends - I usually wear them together.

  • Scarf - Ralph Lauren, consignment

The shoes are getting a little battered, but I still like them, and they are ridiculously comfy, even though they don't have a lick of cushioning in them. They're magic!

Copper bling:
I always keep half of my copper collection out - I love the warm rich tone, and I like having all that metal on.

  • Copper/enamel necklace - vintage 70s, consignment
  • Copper earrings - vintage expo
  • Copper/enamel cuff - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage expo
  • Copper ball cuff - vintage 70s, vintage expo
  • Copper ball/copper and enamel rings - consignment

  1. Argh, fickle Summer and how we so frequently have to switch between a sundress and a coat in August! That Japanese top is a lovely piece and the colour palette of your outfit is gorgeous, spicy and earthy.
I detest those white reverses on garments so much Jon thinks I might have a phobia about them, I will not allow them in the house. xxx

  2. I totally love that top and I'm glad to hear it's a keeper. Hearing you on the horrid white back-side though. I'm supposing you haven't reached peak orange leopard skirt then yet :-)
I'm quite envious of your copper bling collection. That necklace is absolutely divine! xxx

  4. Olive green is such a cool colour. It works so well with that skirt, but I know what you mean about the visible white. Now the top has had an outing, you'll be on the lookout for more items to pair with it!

  5. It’s August 22 and our overnight temps are in the high 50s (nice for sleeping). I’m typing this wrapped in a blanket! Fred says it feels like Fall. Ah well, such is weather and climate. Your colors are perfect for heading from summer to fall.

Am appreciating the many hues of your outfit and, as you know, I’m a fan of your copper jewelry.
    Cheers, Laurie
