Shoulder Pads, Cord Wrap and the Cutest Kitty

Today's outfit showcases my new black corduroy wrap skirt, a recent consignment find.
I paired it with an oversized 90s silk blouse and some chunky Fluevogs.

  • Blouse - Dalmys, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in November 2022 with white jeans and Converse
  • Skirt - JW Anderson X Uniqlo, consignment; purchased here for $38.00
  • Shoes - Summertime Moonbeams, Fluevog, consignment; last seen here in November with murmurations and leather
  • Coat (below) - Halston, vintage 70s, consignment, Sidney; last worn here last week

I remembered to wear my shoulder pads this time!
I have a thrifted same-era camisole with built-in shoulder pads, and it's super handy for vintage tops like this lovely thick (and yet billowy) blouse, where the previous owner snipped out the originals.

I had some heavy lifting to do today - and I do mean that literally, moving standing desks around - so I needed loose clothing.
The new corduroy skirt was absolutely fantastic - the inside button-strap completely kept the wrap from opening up.

And the pockets were ginormous and held a lot - including my entire hand.
I changed to my walking shoes for the actual physical stuff, don't worry.

Outerwear - ta-dah!
Such a gorgeous coat.

I'll take chilly days like this anytime.
Cold and crisp, but not too cold - we're not in mink coat weather by a long shot.

Accoutrements:
I do like the warmth of fur over most of my cloth scarves this time of year - it's all thrifted!

  • Fur scarf - Danier, thrifted
  • Gloves - Club Monaco, consignment

The stuff:
These are a lot more comfy than they look.

Golden bling:
Colleague Stu admired my giant necklace, which got somewhat lost against the loud pattern of the shirt. "Is it real gold?"

  • Chain/leather bracelet - thrifted
  • Gold chain bracelet - Dad's
  • Necklace - D'Orlan, vintage 50s, thrifted
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence

"It's gold-en..." I said.

Last night while I was putting today's outfit together, I nearly stepped on Vizzini as he was roly-polying around on the floor near my closet.
"I'm the cutest kitty ever!"

Oh, hello, buddy. Would you like a tummy rub?
"Yes, I would."

He's not a "Venus Fly-Cat" - we've always given good tummy rubs. I even brush his tum!
"But what is that enticing morsel you dangle at me?"

It's the tie to my velour hoodie (part of my lounge tracksuit). He likes to attack it.
"It's clearly mocking me!"

All the pics after this were a blur.

  2. That blouse is a real stunner and was definitely made to be worn with shoulder pads!
Your new cord wrap skirt is fabulous too ... I seem to be having a weakness for cord skirts lately.
Well done to your colleague Stu for noticing and remarking on your massive gold-en necklace. What a fabulous piece that is!
Isn't it just wonderful to have a cuddly cat who appreciates belly rubs? We never had one of those before Bess. xxx
