Embroidered Velvet and Flamenco Flounces

Today was a much better day - I took the bus to work, and the office was full of my awesome coworkers. I'm still really tired, but not lightheaded.
This felt like a classic Sheila outfit - I've had this blazer for ages and have worn it in many, many ways.

  • Velvet blazer - Le Chateau, vintage 90s, consignment; last worn here in December 2022 with new blue
  • Sweater - Bellissima, thrifted; last seen here in September with my Peacock Jacket
  • Flamenco skirt - handmade, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in November 2022 for a Winesday
  • Coat (below) - Donna Karan, consignment; last seen here in November

I bought it in 2011 and this is its 23rd wearing (you can revisit some of my very old outfits here).
I swooshed my flouncy skirt at colleague Mike after he nearly stepped on the hem while following me downstairs.

"Look out, I'll Flamenco you!"
He thought it was hilarious.

I love this teal coloured thin sweater and was pleased at how well it went with the embroidery in the blazer.
I layered a vintage slip under this for extra warmth.

Buttoned up.
That rich embroidery just makes me swoon!

Outerwear - tah-dah!
My bus card tumbled out of my pocket right after I used it (arg), so I had to walk home and pick up a new one on the way. Someone's going to get $12.50 of free bus rides on me!

Accoutrements:
This scarf must be from the same era as the jacket (early 00s) - the colours matched exactly.

  • Scarf - thrifted
  • Toque - gift from Tammy
  • Brooch - Monet, vintage 80s, consignment
  • Gloves - Thinsulate, thrifted

The stuff:
Gorgeous boots, still going strong after 11-12 years. That's still a comfy (and very stable) heel.

  • Belt - Notes by Nord, thrifted
  • Brass/copper cuff - Karen's
  • Dragon/glass stone necklace/bracelet - vintage 30s, vintage expo, gift from L
  • Earrings - Kate Spade, consignment
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jeweler, c. 1965, Dad's
  • Amber ring - c. 1996

Oops, forgot to take the bling pic!

  1. I'm glad you feel better. And this is a very pretty outfit. I love skirts like that. And I love black! What a pity about the bus card.

  2. Am glad you are continuing to feel better, especially that the lightheadedness is gone. Are you drinking sufficient amounts of water?

Your outfit looks comfy and spiffy! The teal short sleeve top is luscious in color plus I like that your arms can breathe! Am curious about your choice of glasses. Am fairly certain you also have blue frames and curious why you chose these rather than the blue? I’ve been eyeballing multicolored frames but my prescription is costly for the lenses (progressives) so I hesitate to splurge. Still… Maybe in the new year.

Here’s to continuing to feel better and a comfortable week!
    Cheers, Laurie

    2. Yes, I'm drinking lots of water (noticed that I've been very dehydrated with this bout of Covid). I usually wear the red/pink/orange glasses as they are more comfortable - I love the turquoise frames, but forget about them - they also don't have anti-glare, so they bounce light and don't look good in pics. :D

      HI, FRED!!

  3. Phew, I'm so glad to hear it was a much better day for you Sheila!
Your outfit is perfect in every way. I'm loving the matchiness of the embroidered blazer, jumper and scarf, and how fabulous are the flamenco skirt and those boots! xxx

  6. Glad you are feeling better today (need to read backwards to find out what was amiss!)
I love the idea of you flouncing at your collegue Mike! Where are your castanets? You could have snapped at him with those too!
I really love the embroidery on that jacket and 23 wears is super respectable! The blue thin top works really well too. I do love your Fluevogs!
That's gutting about your bus pass- here's hoping it was someone homeless or poor who really needs it!x
