Sparkly Sequins, and a Pen Thief

I'm trying to get the sparkle on in my outfits in these last couple of weeks of the year, but I also have a lot of physical things I have to do at work.
It's a challenge to figure out what to wear! Let's just go BLUE, shall we? And sequins!

  • Sweater - Banana Republic, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in December 2021 for a shopping trip
  • Skirt - Culture; last worn here almost exactly a year ago in December 2022 with...orange and blue!
  • Shoes - Go Groovy Aubrey, Fluevog; last seen here in August with bronze and leopard
  • Coat (below) - Banana Republic, consignment; last worn here in November

I'm shocked that I haven't worn this merino wool sweater in over a year!
I guess it gets lost in my jumble of sweaters! I noticed a moth-hole in the front of it, so it hasn't got much longer with me.

The skirt was the star - my coworkers loved it. I got a lot of, "OOH! Sparkly!" comments.
It's stretchy and lined to the top of the slit - the sequins stand up and are orange on one side and blue on the other.

Outerwear and Resting I-Need-Coffee Face.
This coat was a bit chilly, but I bussed both ways today, conserving my energy for moving things around in the office.

Is the week over yet?
I would really like it to be.

Accoutrements:
Did you notice I built my outfit and outerwear around two of my new accessories?

  • Toque - gift from Tammy
  • Brooch - Monet, vintage fair
  • Gloves - Parkhurst
  • Scarf - Marimekko X Uniqlo, consignment; purchased here for $28.00

The scarf was deliciously snuggly and not at all bulky.

The stuff:
Colleague Jessica exclaimed over my shoes - I'm so used to these and I'd forgotten much of my wardrobe of the past 3-4 years is still new to my workplace.

Copper bling:
My new-to-me vintage copper and enamel necklace elicited gasps of admiration. I loved wearing it - it laid nice and flat on my neck and the copper warms right up.

  • Copper twisty bracelet - vintage 50s, Seattle, gift from L
  • Cuff - Renoir, vintage 50s, Grandma J's
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Copper ring - consignment
  • Copper/enamel necklace - vintage 70s, consignment; purchased here for $32.00

Last night while I blogged, I heard rustling on the desk behind me. Someone was Up To No Good.
"Oh, is this bothering you?"

Vizzini, you pen thief! He was knocking the pen around and pushing it onto the floor.

When I picked it up, he lunged.
"This pen is my enemy!"

Aw, that little paw grabbing the pen - he still loves to play!

  1. Haha! look at Vizzini battling that pen, he's out to kill it!
Love the array of colours in today's outfit, the sequins give a festive vibe and you've matched the shoes, jacket and jumper to the groovy scarf brilliantly. xxx

  2. Love your outfit! Yes, the sparkles of the skirt but also the perfect way your sweater and tights match, and the shoes and jacket match, plus the copper accessories, especially your necklace, all politely adding their luster to the outfit! If I’m not overstepping, I think the skirt - cut and length - are flattering to your frame. :)

Happy Wednesday from sunny, chilly NY!
    Cheers, Laurie

  3. That skirt is reminiscent of a starry sky, and absolutely stunning. I'm loving the mix of blues, oranges and copper you combined it with. That necklace really is a stunner!
As for the naughty pen thief, Bess would have done exactly the same :-) xxx

Hellloooooo Sparkle bum! You look so nice in the sparkly skirt. I'm sad about your sweater's days being numbered! The new jewellery is really nice and the colours work perfectly in this outfit!

  5. I love the sequin skirt...I think I need to thrift me some sequins...BTW I really like your hairstyle. I am considering bangs as I am feeling kind of bored with my hair and thought it might be a fun easy way to kick it tp a notch. Do you find them hard to maintain?

    1. I get my hair cut/trimmed every 7 weeks or so - a fresh haircut sees my bangs quite short, and at the end of 7 weeks, it's getting in my eyes. I blow-dry them straight. Go for it!

  6. Vizzini is very angry with that pen!
Love the sequins. They work so well with the cobalt blue!
