Fancy Friday: PANK and a Pouf

Happy Friday, my friends! I'm ending this week with some colour, worn to take a group picture with colleagues to promote Pink Shirt/Anti-Bullying Day next week.
I hadn't yet worn this skirt this season, so that led me to tall boots, which led me to the denim vest and the moto-style jacket.

  • Wool jacket - Gap, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here in January with zebra stripes
  • Vest - Chiqle, thrifted; last seen here in January for our trip to Powell River
  • Sweater - Bleu Gray, thrifted; last worn layered here in February 2021
  • Skirt - All Saints, pass-along from Dominique; last seen here in September 2021 with this same jacket!
  • Boots - Steve Madden, vintage mall; last worn here (2nd outfit) in January, my first outfit of the year

I alternated between wearing the jacket (when I was chilled) and taking it off (when I was running around the office.
I own very few pieces of denim, but I adore this acid-wash vest. It has studs, pockets, and it's stretchy. It is Apex Denim Vest. No upgrading required!

The skirt is so pouffy, and I didn't even bother steaming it last night.
I'd kept it out over last spring/summer, so it hasn't been squished into a bag, just crammed in with about 20 other short skirts. I just gave it a shake and it was good to go.

Masked up - more pink.
I do love the blast of hot PANK from this jacket - it certainly enlivens the outfit!

Bundled up. I didn't wear an extra coat, huzzah. This moto jacket is wool and is lined, so nice on a crisp day, plus I had the denim vest (buttoned up for the voyage) and the cotton sweater for insulation.
I also have thin shorts on over my fleece-lined tights. I was a bit sweaty on my brisk walk home!

Accoutrements:
This "oh so very 80s" scarf caught my eye today. It's 100% silk, with hand-rolled edges (what I always look for in scarves).

  • Gloves - Danier
  • Scarf - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
Ugh, the inside top of these boots is disintegrating. Curse you, Steve Madden, for lining these in fake leather! I'm on the lookout for new OTK (over-the-knee) black boots - and yes, I do have another pair, but they are my spring/summer ones (these ones, outfit look familiar?).

Minor bling:
Today was a missed brooch opportunity - I should have popped a couple on the jacket and vest.

  • Belt - Mudd, vintage, thrifted
  • Earrings - POLY, consignment; purchased here for $19.00
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Silver/onyx ring - Toccara, vintage fair

When I bought these earrings, I was sure that they were by Montreal jewelry-maker Christoph Poly, but couldn't find a mark on them. Today, when I put them on, I noticed a rough spot on the hook when I took the stopper off - after squinting and angling them in the light, I was able to discern that it says "POLY." Both earrings are stamped. Yay!

Well, my friends, this is a long weekend for Family Day in BC, so I will be back on Monday with tales of adventure. Stay safe, be chill and let's all strive for an attitude of gratitude. Spring is in the air!

    1. I didn't create it, but I'm happy to get a long weekend in February, otherwise it's such a long stretch between Christmas and Easter!

I didn't find any pank, unfortunately!

  3. The skirt is so good with the tall boots. Which reminds me...I haven't worn my over-the-knee boots once for two years. Damned Covid.

    1. Shaz, so good to see you, my friend. Thank you, and I'm happy to speak to you. I try to be chill (I can be very anxious) and take things as they come. Glad to inject a little colour into your day!

  5. The skirt is absolutely fabulous and I love how you paired with a denim vest and a pink jacket. The high boots are fantastic with this skirt. The scarf is very pretty. The vintage belt is such a statement piece and so are the earrings.
I do recall that there's an anti-bullying day when pink is worn (cool idea), but it hasn't caught on here.
I have a denim vest hiding somewhere in my closet, I need to find it.

    1. Thanks, Ivana! I am happy with any excuse to wear pink! I completely support Pink Shirt Day, as I was bullied quite badly in school as a kid.

      Get that vest out! :)

  6. Ooh, that pouffy skirt is absolutely delightful and it looks fantastic with the tall boots! Such a shame the inside is starting to disintegrate! I do hate it when this happens. It's always lovely to see your PANK jacket, particularly on a stormy day like today. The scarf is indeed a blast of the past, and couldn't have been more 80s if it tried. Well done on identifying the earrings! Have a great extended weekend, my friend. I do hope your weather is better than ours! xxx

    1. Thank you so much, Ann! I know, I hate when things start to fall apart. Sigh. OTK black boots are hard to find at a decent price!

I enjoyed my Pank and the retro scarf, and how cool to ID the earrings (although I was 99% sure already from the style).

It's windy and very cold, but at least it's sunny!

  7. I like the idea of pink shirt day and I love the outfit you created! You layered so well and there is not a single thing I'd change about this outfit - apart from maybe what the boots are lined with so they didn't frustrate you so much, haha!

  14. Thank you deeply for helping to promote awareness for this very, very worthy cause/campaign. The realist in me knows that humanity will almost certainly never weed out bullying entirely, but goodness knows we can still make huge leaps forward on that front.

No one rocks a poof skirt better than you! What a stunner this one is!

Hope you and L had a fantastic long weekend!

    1. There are certainly far more resources for people being bullied now than there were when I was a kid (zero!). But it's insidious...I was bullied only 10 years ago in a job as an adult, so it still happens.

Thank you - this pouf makes me smile.
