I hadn't yet worn this skirt this season, so that led me to tall boots, which led me to the denim vest and the moto-style jacket.
- Wool jacket - Gap, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here in January with zebra stripes
- Vest - Chiqle, thrifted; last seen here in January for our trip to Powell River
- Sweater - Bleu Gray, thrifted; last worn layered here in February 2021
- Skirt - All Saints, pass-along from Dominique; last seen here in September 2021 with this same jacket!
- Boots - Steve Madden, vintage mall; last worn here (2nd outfit) in January, my first outfit of the year
I alternated between wearing the jacket (when I was chilled) and taking it off (when I was running around the office.
I own very few pieces of denim, but I adore this acid-wash vest. It has studs, pockets, and it's stretchy. It is Apex Denim Vest. No upgrading required!
The skirt is so pouffy, and I didn't even bother steaming it last night.
I'd kept it out over last spring/summer, so it hasn't been squished into a bag, just crammed in with about 20 other short skirts. I just gave it a shake and it was good to go.

Masked up - more pink.
I do love the blast of hot PANK from this jacket - it certainly enlivens the outfit!

Bundled up. I didn't wear an extra coat, huzzah. This moto jacket is wool and is lined, so nice on a crisp day, plus I had the denim vest (buttoned up for the voyage) and the cotton sweater for insulation.
I also have thin shorts on over my fleece-lined tights. I was a bit sweaty on my brisk walk home!

Accoutrements:
This "oh so very 80s" scarf caught my eye today. It's 100% silk, with hand-rolled edges (what I always look for in scarves).

- Gloves - Danier
- Scarf - vintage 80s, thrifted
- Mask - by Mom
The stuff:
Ugh, the inside top of these boots is disintegrating. Curse you, Steve Madden, for lining these in fake leather! I'm on the lookout for new OTK (over-the-knee) black boots - and yes, I do have another pair, but they are my spring/summer ones (these ones, outfit look familiar?).
Minor bling:
Today was a missed brooch opportunity - I should have popped a couple on the jacket and vest.
- Belt - Mudd, vintage, thrifted
- Earrings - POLY, consignment; purchased here for $19.00
- Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
- Silver/onyx ring - Toccara, vintage fair
When I bought these earrings, I was sure that they were by Montreal jewelry-maker Christoph Poly, but couldn't find a mark on them. Today, when I put them on, I noticed a rough spot on the hook when I took the stopper off - after squinting and angling them in the light, I was able to discern that it says "POLY." Both earrings are stamped. Yay!
Well, my friends, this is a long weekend for Family Day in BC, so I will be back on Monday with tales of adventure. Stay safe, be chill and let's all strive for an attitude of gratitude. Spring is in the air!
Family day? That's an interesting reason good reason, I guess for a three day weekend. Enjoy. Maybe find some more pank.
ReplyDeleteI didn't create it, but I'm happy to get a long weekend in February, otherwise it's such a long stretch between Christmas and Easter!
DeleteI didn't find any pank, unfortunately!
Pank! That's a fabulous blast of colour on a cold and grey day!
ReplyDeleteHave a brilliant long weekend, dear Sheila! xxx
Thanks, Vix! Right back at you and Jon!
DeleteThe skirt is so good with the tall boots. Which reminds me...I haven't worn my over-the-knee boots once for two years. Damned Covid.
ReplyDeleteGreetje
I love short pouffy skirts with tall boots - it's a great look. Wear those boots, Greetje!
DeleteOk so you and Vix are speaking to me tonight - be chill ! love it and an attitude of gratitude oh yes if only more peole thought this way. ANYHOW that outfit is so fun but also edgy and boy that is pank as Vix said it is so grey here today what a bright spot in the day. Enjoy the rest of your week end. Shazxx
ReplyDeleteShaz, so good to see you, my friend. Thank you, and I'm happy to speak to you. I try to be chill (I can be very anxious) and take things as they come. Glad to inject a little colour into your day!
DeleteThe skirt is absolutely fabulous and I love how you paired with a denim vest and a pink jacket. The high boots are fantastic with this skirt. The scarf is very pretty. The vintage belt is such a statement piece and so are the earrings.
ReplyDeleteI do recall that there's an anti-bullying day when pink is worn (cool idea), but it hasn't caught on here.
I have a denim vest hiding somewhere in my closet, I need to find it.
Thanks, Ivana! I am happy with any excuse to wear pink! I completely support Pink Shirt Day, as I was bullied quite badly in school as a kid.
DeleteGet that vest out! :)
Ooh, that pouffy skirt is absolutely delightful and it looks fantastic with the tall boots! Such a shame the inside is starting to disintegrate! I do hate it when this happens. It's always lovely to see your PANK jacket, particularly on a stormy day like today. The scarf is indeed a blast of the past, and couldn't have been more 80s if it tried. Well done on identifying the earrings! Have a great extended weekend, my friend. I do hope your weather is better than ours! xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Ann! I know, I hate when things start to fall apart. Sigh. OTK black boots are hard to find at a decent price!
DeleteI enjoyed my Pank and the retro scarf, and how cool to ID the earrings (although I was 99% sure already from the style).
It's windy and very cold, but at least it's sunny!
I like the idea of pink shirt day and I love the outfit you created! You layered so well and there is not a single thing I'd change about this outfit - apart from maybe what the boots are lined with so they didn't frustrate you so much, haha!
ReplyDeleteI like it too, Mica, and thank you so much! Yes, I wish the boots were better made, but they can't all be winners.
DeleteI love the pouf in that skirt!
ReplyDeleteMe too, thanks, Laura!
DeleteLove your incredibly awesome outfit!! That PANK jacket is a great mood lifter. I feel better already and might need to go pull out my pink shirt for tomorrow. Enjoy your long weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy to lift your mood, Cheryene! Pull that pink shirt out! :)
DeleteMy favorite color! You wear it well. They should put you in TV commercials as "The Most Interesting Woman In The World." :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great bright colour. Ha, not likely, but you're very sweet to say that, Ally. :)
DeleteOh my goodness….that skirt is fabulous and looks amazing with your long boots.
ReplyDeleteLoving the pank jacket too….you look great! X
Thanks so much, Phyl!
Delete"Pank and a Pouf" is definitely a steller combination. Enjoy your long weekend!
ReplyDeleteI agree, thanks, Shelley! I hope you and Sylvester had some good cuddles.
DeleteLove the pink and black combo. SO bright and cheery. No iron clothes are just so nice. I have to iron everything in the summer.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I steam most things, just to make them nice. :)
DeleteTotally rocking in this PaNK jacket and fabulous skirt, such a cool ensemble and so gorgeous!, fab proportions. Great that this vest doesn't need upgrading, love it!
ReplyDeletebesos
I am always happy when I've reached Peak Upgrade with an article of clothing. Thanks so much!
DeleteThank you deeply for helping to promote awareness for this very, very worthy cause/campaign. The realist in me knows that humanity will almost certainly never weed out bullying entirely, but goodness knows we can still make huge leaps forward on that front.
ReplyDeleteNo one rocks a poof skirt better than you! What a stunner this one is!
Hope you and L had a fantastic long weekend!

There are certainly far more resources for people being bullied now than there were when I was a kid (zero!). But it's insidious...I was bullied only 10 years ago in a job as an adult, so it still happens.
DeleteThank you - this pouf makes me smile.
No upgrading required makes it an even more impressive piece of clothing!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mim!
