I knew I wanted to pair this blouse with the wonderfully drapey silk velvet skirt - the colours are such a perfect match.
- Sleeveless vest - Only, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in July 2021 with my ORANGE LEATHER SHORTS (sorry, it's in their contract)
- Blouse - Guess, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
- Skirt - Linda Lundstrom, vintage 90s, thrifted; last seen here in November 2021 with blue and grey
- Shoes - Freedom Suki, Fluevog, early 00s,thrifted; purchased here for $9.95
- Coat (below) - Auckie Sanft, vintage 60s, vintage fair; last worn here earlier this month
It's far too cold out to wear the blouse on its own - I have a pink camisole on under it as well - so I layered my denim dress/vest over it.
I was glad of the extra layer, but I wasn't really feeling the blouse. It's too floppy and not really me, so off to the giveaway pile it goes! This is how I make room for new things.

I adore the long swooshy bias-cut skirt.
It's always a winner. I have blue tights (which I have decided I loathe) and a vintage half-slip under it for warmth.

I don't wear this denim vest/dress as often as I used to - you can check out the Flashback here for some of the ways I've styled it over the years.
It can be worn done up (it has two snaps in the front) and tied, but today, I only wore it like that under my coat.

I am also not really feeling the love for it like I used to, and at 10 wears over 5 years, I've gotten my cost-per-wear to $2.30 - and I'm totally fine with that. Off it goes to a new home!
Masked up - I have pink bookends!
The shoes are a little pinkier than the cerise in the blouse, but it's far enough away not to be obvious.

And the big question: How were the shoes?
Well, thank goodness I put gel inserts in them! These shoes are a teensy bit big on me and a bit slidey with tights on, but they were otherwise fine and I even walked a couple of blocks in them. I think they might be a good shopping shoe with bare feet, but not sure if they are keepers or not. As I noted when I bought them, I may draw on them.
Minor bling:
I liked how this sparkly Austrian crystal vintage necklace worked with this blouse. A good combination.
- Necklace - vintage 60s, gift from L
- Earrings - consignment
- Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
- Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
And now I'm off for a weekend full of excitement as we ease back into socializing with live people...indoors! I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure, and as always, thank you so much for stopping by. Take care!
Even if you're not keeping the denim vest I really like it with this outfit, and that velvet skirt is such a stunner! Liking all the pink too :)
ReplyDeleteI may yet change my mind on it, Mica. Thank you!
DeleteYou teach me stuff all the time. I never thought of using shoes as the focal point of an outfit. Sure, we wear nice shoes but in this ensemble their bright color draws the eye right down and affects the way the entire outfit is seen. I like that. I'm gonna use that! Thanks, teacher. :)
ReplyDeleteEvery woman learns this when she gets her first red shoes! I love that you're inspired, Ally - thank you!
DeleteI love that maxi skirt. Lovely pink accessories, those heels are divine.
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt, and I'm always a fan of kitten heels. Thanks, Ivana!
DeleteI don't like wearing floppy blouses either, so I'm totally hearing you! It does look great with the blue velvet maxi skirt though. I'm loving all the pink and blue together. The long denim vest looks great with this outfit, but if you're no longer feeling, then off it goes!
ReplyDeleteThe shoes are gorgeous, but I'm hearing you here as well. I simply cannot wear strapless shoes like that with tights, even if they are the right size. But what is wrong with those blue tigths?
Have a most wonderful weekend, Sheila! xxx
Yeah, I like the colours too, Ann, but the blouse annoyed me when I wore it, just didn't quite fit right. I am still debating over the denim vest!
DeleteEh, the tights...the colour is just not...right to my eyes. I just don't like them.
Thank you, Ann!
We enjoyed a evening with 13! friends yesterday!! How amazing that was! Its something you get energy from. I hope you also had such a energetic weekend. Its going to be very sunny here today, so we are planning to cycle to see how that goes. But it was before zero last night so still very cold. Enjoy your Sunday!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome is that, Nancy! Isn't it the best? You do get energy from your friends, for sure. Take care.
DeleteThat skirt looks so swooshy! Wonderful matching as always!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laura!
DeleteSwooshy, gorgeous outfit. I'm sorry that the shoes may not work for you in the end. Either way, finding Fluevogs in the wild is about as rare as spotting a unicorn, so having that tale to tell alone is definitely worth something. :)
ReplyDeleteNow, that incredible velvet skirt is a perfect example of 1990s fashions that massively need a revival.
It's fun to see the (mostly younger) generations emulating some of the "Y2K" looks that we experienced first hand over two decades ago now, but I think it is (also) high time for some of the chicer, more sophisticated nineties styles to reappear on the fashion scene as well.

I don't mind - I'll decorate them and pass them on or maybe I'll keep them. They are rare, though!
DeleteI love the skirt too - why do they keep bringing back the ugly clothes?? :) I find it fun to see how the younger set interprets looks I did back then!
