PANK and the Polar Bear

Ah, this is more like it - colour! Although I liked my darker outfit yesterday, I am really amazed at what a difference this colourful November has been for my mental health.
This is one of my very favourite dresses - it's where I originated my "PANK" moniker for this neon shade. It's so pink it's PANK!

  • Dress - Essentiel Antwerp, consignment; last worn here in February with brown and leopard
  • Boots - Teleport; last seen here in September with black/white/red
  • Coat (below) - Apparence, vintage, thrifted; last worn here in February

I am not a fan of the trapeze or swing style of clothing, but I adore this dress.
It has pockets! Aside from the approximately 50 bajillion buttons for doing it up, it's a perfect dress.

I adore the bright colour - it just makes me happy.
I've had the floral tights for close to a decade (I thrifted them for 99 cents, brand new!).

It hangs so well - the back dips down lower than the front.
I always wear a short black slip under it - I'm wearing a snug tank-style camisole as well for warmth.

Masked up - turquoise/teal to match the colour in the tights.
A few of my colleagues are trickling back into the office now. My coworker Carol came to check me out. "What colourful thing is Sheila wearing?" She was not disappointed!

Outerwear. Hooray! The return of the Unsafe Polar Bear!
I bought this gorgeous piece here in November 2013 for a whopping $40.00 at the long-gone Hospice Thrift Store, and she earned her name later that month.

We were walking back to Cat's place from a Book Club theatre event (here) and I was tipsily dashing about when Yvonne (I think) dubbed me the Unsafe Polar Bear as in "Don't run across the street, like the Unsafe Polar Bear!"
I took a rare back-shot of my outerwear so you could appreciate the beauty. It's getting a little worn out (I've probably worn it 50+ times in 8 years), but I haven't seen its equal since.

Accoutrements:
Get out the warm stuff! It's cold out there!

  • Fur boa - thrifted
  • Cashmere beret - Club Monaco, thrifted
  • Gloves - consignment

The stuff:
I didn't do much walking in these, as that's a bit on the high side for heels for me these days. I love how shiny that silver leather is!

Silver bling:
My "teeth" necklace is a favourite. Actually, at this point in my life, nearly everything I own is a favourite. Funny how that works.

  • Necklace - Eaton's
  • Bracelet - Swarovski, consignment - gift from L
  • Pearl ear-balls - Swarovski, consignment
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

I'm off tomorrow - see you on the flip side! Thanks so much for stopping in.

  1. I love the PANK dress on you! I'm so excited to thrift my very own version in the opshop the other week for just $1 - it's not quite as neon as yours but it makes me happy every time I wear it! it was a sold out piece this time last year so I was so thrilled to stumble on it at just $1 in the opshop!

Colour can be a real mood booster!

  6. We underestimate the effect of color on our emotions. Bright colors, cheery mood; dreary colors, dreary mood. The contrast between your last outfit and this one couldn't be sharper.

You inspire me to wear brighter colors and that influences my fashion choices. Thank you for that.

  7. One of my favourite dresses on you and one of my favourite brands. It makes me happy to just look at you. Nice touch with the tights and oh how I adore the boots.
I am also very happy with the return of the Unsafe Polar Bear.

  8. Whew - I almost got vertigo on seeing those heels! Fab boots and the tights are the most marvellous bargain 99 cents; still going strong almost a decade later? What will you do if get a hole in them? We'll mourn them together, I think.

Lovely outfit and the unsafe polar bear is a winner everytime.

I've been reading about the terrible storms in BC and hope you and all your friends and family are safe.

    1. The tights actually have a giant hole in them near the waist - it's not visible, though, so they'll last a bit longer!

We are safe here in Victoria - I'm near downtown and not really affected by the recent weather disasters, aside from the food/gas shortages. Even then, the supply chain will only be disrupted for another week or so. Not the end of the world (yet).

  9. This is totally a favourite dress, love its Pankness and love the way you style it with floral tights and shiny boots and accessorizing.
We're totally in the same wavelength, wrapped in Colour Therapy!, bringing some vitaminic colours!. Love your attitude, dear Sheila!

  10. I adore your PANK dress, Sheila, and I'm always secretly chuffed that its origins lie in my neck of the woods. Those floral tights are to die for as well, as are those silver boots, which obviously I wouldn't be able to walk in at all. Hello Unsafe Polar Bear, good to see you again! Enjoy your day off, Sheila, I've just finished my last working day of the week! xxx

  11. You do know how to wear PANK! I've never seen tights like those- how fun to bring out a little color even if the rest is dull. I know you're never dull.

  12. The weather in Canada made the news here today, I'm glad to hear you're safe there in Victoria.
I love your pank trapeze dress, it looks like a fun piece to wear. Pairing it with those lovely floral tights was the right thing to do. They are a great pair. I though they might be leggings when I first saw them, it's so cool they are tights. The silver heeled booties are fantastic and as always I love your accessories.
The polar bear coat is fabulous. I bet it's really cozy and warm! I can see why you still haven't managed to find an adequate substitute for it.
    Take care!

  13. Tee-hee-hee about the polar bear. So cute! No white bears around these parts, but another (rather hefty sized) dark brown ones was spotted in our immediate neighbourhood a few days ago. I wonder if this week's snow will send them into the woods or if they'll be viewing our carport as a potential den. (I'm joking - I hope! :D)

  14. Pank rules! I hope the unsafe polar bear lasts you a good while longer! Those boots are marvelous! Like space go-go boots! Love them.

  15. Jon asked me if you were safe he saw the terrible flooding on the news and was worried as he wasn't sure where you were. I was able to reassure him that you weren't in BC.
Loving the PANK and the Unsafe Polar Bear, I feel better just looking at you! xxxx
