Whoa, it's all a blur...so much has happened in the past 3-4 days! I hope everyone's having a great weekend!
Thank you to Melanie for the hilarious intro to my addition to the fun that is the Traveling Yellow Skirt Freak Show! Missed my entry? Here it is.
I'm also linking up to "Visible Monday" over at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style! Go visit!
But let's all jump in the Wayback Machine and see what's been going on in my crazy life. On Thursday night, L and I and a bunch of our friends went to see Canadian indie-country artist Lindi Ortega!*
*all links for Lindi because I'm a fan and I love!here in October in an unsuccessful outfit. I was much happier with this one!
I liked the contrast of the thick sweater and boots with the floatiness of this silk skirt. I last wore the skirt here (2nd outfit) in August with a matchy top half.
here. I wore my red coral/silver earrings, my red leather cuff and my red coral/silver ring.
Sweater (Wilfred, thrifted), skirt (Corey Lynn Calter, consignment), boots (Adrian Agnes, Fluevog), cuff (Rimanchik), earrings/ring (Oscar & Libby's).
The show was at Lucky Bar.
Lucky is a long, narrow venue. There were about 60 people there total, so we were standing only about 15 feet from the stage, with no jostling (this is important to me).
The opening act was Devin Cuddy*, son of Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo* (my favourite band).
*linking 'cause I love
Lindi Ortega was awesome!
here, from both that and "Little Red Boots" (also a favourite).
She played on the piano for a couple of songs.
Afterwards, she mingled with the fans and signed autographs!
And you may have noticed that as well as having an album called "Little Red Boots", she wears her little red boots on all her album covers, and performs in them. Of course, L and I had to wear our little red boots!
L and I are both wearing Fluevogs - his are the Iggys
So, then I had to go to work on Friday after a fun night out!
I had after-work dinner plans with my former clothing store boss, Tammy, for her birthday earlier this week, and she is a very fashionable lady, so I always dress up nice for her.
steampunkin' out at the Castle on Monday.
The denim vest was worn last in another ruffly ensemble here in October.
here). It's a favourite although I always waffle about it until I wear it!
here, during Monochromania! week in August). Disco Dutch!
Simple bling, since the skirt is pretty blingy on its own.
Vest (Bisou Bisou, consignment), blouse (Uno Due, thrifted), skirt (Bianca Nygard), shoes (Prepare Hi Steady, Fluevog), ring (Wendy Brandes), earrings (local).
L and I did our usual brunch on Sunday.
My lovely cream brocade blazer, last seen here with my dark florals during my birthday week in October.
here (2nd outfit) in April to hang with friends and play Arkham Horror.
I love the shape of this skirt. I last wore it here (3rd outfit, beware of Disco pictures!) in October.
here in late October (3rd outfit). I am getting rid of the shoes, though, as after shopping in them for 4 hours, my feet were seriously killing me. Can't have that, sorry!
My belt is my much-loved Pringle of Scotland one.
Hmmm...someone in the background is Up to No Good.
Jacket (Le Chateau, consignment), sweater (August Silk, consignment), skirt (Optionelle, consignment), shoes (Marc, thrifted), belt (Pringle of Scotland), earrings (local).
I had some excellent luck in my shopping after brunch. I popped into Rich Rags, a store I don't often shop in (but I do find things there once in a while). I found this gorgeous wooly blue coat...
I've never heard of the brand Renuar before, but apparently they have been around for 30 years.
I also found this amazing silk dress:
It's 100% silk (and it's washable!).
I also paid $10.00 for this sheer striped black blouse:
Vizzini was very happy to see me when I got home. Or maybe he just wanted to be fed.
"Gimme food or the coat gets it!"
I stopped in at the Hospice Thrift Store - they have some amazing stuff in right now! Tons of glittery seasonal clothes (including purses) as well as a giant rack of winter coats.
I circled around this beauty then realized what a fool I would be if someone grabbed it while I was hemming and hawing.
I strolled up the street to the WIN Boutique and found a couple of items I had to have, including another black suede top.
I think it maybe a sickness - this is my third one! But it's totally different, I swear! This is a real steampunk-y cut, with a high collar, hooks-and-eyes closure up the front and built-in lace cuffs (yes!). it was $75.00, marked down to half, so $37.50. It was too cool to pass up. Of course, it is by Danier Leather.
No brand name, but I think that's a good deal.
I fell in love with yet another fur scarf.
It's like a Muppet! It's a deep blue-grey colour and seriously, I am in love. And for $10.50? Score!
I am always on the lookout for good quality leather belts, so the lovely cutout on this one caught my eye.
Today, I got up early-ish and got groceries.
As part of my employment with WW, I have to maintain my weight (that's part of why I work for them - I want to keep my 50 lbs off!), and at any of our meetings/training sessions we all step on the scales. So I wore light clothing!
here in August with my sailor pants. I have a full slip underneath everything for extra warmth.
"Oh well, I guess I'll photobomb you."
I like how his back leg is poking out so nonchalantly.
I had to debut my furry scarf:
Sweater (Daniel Bishop, consignment), skirt (Gap, thrifted), boots (Aldo, consignment), coat (Danier), scarf (thrifted).
And what a surprise! I and my two receptionists, Betty and Janet, won an award!
I can't wait to show my members on Tuesday!
Such a cool capper to a fun weekend!
I hope you had a great one!
You should win a best-dressed award, for the entire planet! I do just love your barnyard skirt, and your red boots. And I can't wait to see you in the creamy dreamy furry coat - it looks lovely and soft.ReplyDelete
This is a post for the record books in fabulousness. I choked at your faux fur coat. It's so similar to mine although I call mine pastel nicotine and yours is a far more elegant "slightly textured rich cream." Mine is the yin to your yang I guess. What a fun night out with a photo and autograph from the scthar! And you won another award (I'm just assuming you will get that other one). Congratulations, Sheila. You are a force.ReplyDelete
Did I just delete my comment by mistake, sign out instead of publish?ReplyDelete
Wow congratulations on the turnout at your WW meeting!ReplyDelete

I'm still in love with your denim flare skirt. You rock the tulip and the flare shape like no one else.
