We made it, my friends! Friday is here! Woo!
- Dress - Escada, vintage 00s, consignment; first worn here in June 2020 as Armour
- Top - Ted Baker, consignment; last seen here in October 2020 in a goth look
- Boots - Chatterbox Ishshoes, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) in January with my puzzle dress
- Coat (below) - Apparence, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here a week ago
I was inspired to dig out this as-yet-unworn coat-dress by blogger Lovely at My Name is Lovely - I enjoy her trendy, designer clothes and she's a natural model (unlike me!).
She was wearing a fabulous coat-dress (check it out here), and I thought, "Hey, I have one of those!"Mine is obviously nothing like hers - my taste is a lot more over-the-top! - but today was the perfect day for a coat dress.
I layered my navy blue sparkly Ted Baker top with the dress as that collar is wide and gape-y.

I also have a navy blue vintage full slip underneath for warmth and bottom half coverage.
The dress is 100% silk, even the lining (KLASSY) - it's a chi-chi brand that's been around forever: Escada.

Masked up. This one is navy blue with sparkles.
The last time I wore this dress was the day our dear Karen left us (guaranteed to make me cry link here). I thought of her all day while I wore it. I can't believe it's been 8 months since she died.

Outerwear - nothing better than a bear of a coat, especially the Unsafe Polar Bear!
There won't be too many more opportunities to wear her this season.

It was sunny but chilly - more of the same is in store for the weekend. I'm so glad. I need sun.

Blue and gold bling:
Once I matched the belt (which has gold hardware), I dug out all my blue and gold jewelry.

A gust of wind during the timer for my stair pose caught me by surprise and bouffed my hair up huge!
I hope those are winds of change...for spring!

Have a lovely weekend, and thank you so much for dropping by. Stay safe, be calm, and be kind.
What a fantastic dress! I really like the green and blue together, it's a great combination and the blue accessories and that scarf are just perfect with this dress :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mica! I love these colours together.
DeleteI love green and blue together. Those boots steal the show for me, I want them! Have a fab weekend. Sunny here too - actually warm (oddly). Lise
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lise! I know, the boots are amazing. They always have admirers. I wish the sun would stay!

Aw, thank you so much, Autumn.
DeleteI love your hair woth the green. You are set for a very chic party.
ReplyDeleteOh, I wish, Sam! I miss parties!
DeleteGreen suits you nicely. I always loved the combination of blue and green. I always say that it makes me feel like a mermaid. For some reason I imagine mermaids as being blue and green.
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous in this olive satin dress. I don't think I have a coat dress in my closet yet, but I do think they are fabulous. Amazing boots as well.
Have a great weekend!!!!!!
Thank you, Ivana - I love blue and green together too. It definitely has a mermaid feel!
DeleteI don't really think about coat dresses too much - they aren't really a go-to for me. Happy weekend!
Love the blue and green together. Those boots are blue velvet awesomeness!! It's always good to have a tiger on your shoulder.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you, L and Vizzini!
Thanks so much, Cheryene - agreed, a tiger is always good. Happy weekend to you!
DeleteWhat a beautiful shade of green. It'd look good on a McLaren. :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha, it would, Ally!
DeleteSuch a fabulous colour on you, She! I love blue and green together and it's always a pleasure to see that unsafe polar bear make an appearance! xxx
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much, Vix! I love these colours, and it's always good to squeeze in a wearing of the Unsafe Polar Bear.
DeleteWhat can be more tactile than green satin and blue velvet combined? That satin coat-dress is gorgeous on you, and what a fabulous shade of green it is. I can understand wearing it was an emotional roller coaster, and Karen was on your mind all day. Can't believe it was eight months!
ReplyDeleteI love the matching Lanvin scarf and of course, those blue velvet boots are magnificent. And, hello Unsafe Polar Bear!
I do hope Spring is on its way for you and that you are having a wonderful weekend! xxx
Between the two items, I was petting myself all day, Ann! Ha! Thank you so much. I didn't want to not wear the dress, but that association will always be there for me. Time has gone so fast.
DeleteThanks so much, my dear friend. I need warmth and sun, as we all do. Happy weekend to you and Jos!
Green satin and blue velvet; such a beautiful combination! It is hard to believe eight months have flown by since you shared the news of Karen's passing. Sending hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nana, and hugs back to you. Where has that time gone?
DeleteOh, those colours are luscious!!! Love, Love, Love!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Cynthia!
DeleteAh yeah, that tiger again! I know I will find a similar one, one day! What a gorgeous coat dress! What a color. I think blue and green is just as gorgeous af pink and red. This year it wil be 10 years since the benjamin of our friend group died. Time goes so fast Sheila, we need to enjoy every minute of it.
ReplyDeleteIf I find one, I'll buy it, Nancy! Thank you - I love colours that are close, like blue/green and red/pink. Aw, even at 10 years, I bet it just feels like yesterday for you. Wise words, my friend. Hug.
DeleteSuch gorgeous, vivid green and blues! Love to see this combination of hues and textures... Also want to say that I understand how grief makes time feel both long and short, all at once; I am sill so sorry for your loss of your dear friend, Karen.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Linda. It's been such a weird year, hasn't it?
DeleteOh I love this dress/coat. It is so good. And I bet, it would fit me too (just saying...).
ReplyDeleteI had a look at the blog of Lovely and yes, her coat dress is gorgeous, but so expensive. And yes she is like a model. I don't think I will follow her, she would give me an inferiority complex haha.
Greetje
PS yes it is a sad moment when you remember a friend you lost, isn't it. Yesterday I found a photo of my late BFF which I didn't know I had and it made me cry too.
It's very "you", Greetje! It would look fantastic on you, too, I agree! :)
DeleteYes, she wears very expensive items, but I do enjoy her styling.
Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. Yes, the littlest things can trigger our memories.
That is such a yummy coat/dress - the rich sheen of the fabric and jewel tone colour make it a standout piece.
ReplyDeleteI love the colour of this coat-dress, Shelley! There is just not enough clothing in emerald green, don't you think?
Deletewow, rocking these colours and textures and matchy scarf, everything is so fabulous (particularly The Tiger Brooch!)
ReplyDeletebesos
I love the matchy-matchy! Thanks, Monica!
