Monday Blue Jammy Dress

Ugh, going back to work after such a fun weekend - not as fun! I decided to wear yet another jammy dress, just so I wouldn't have to think too hard about my outfit.
There's nothing like a dress to make one feel pulled-together. I have a lot of dresses, so what does that say about me?

  • Dress - Talbots, thrifted; purchased here for $24.95
  • Shoes - Garden of Enjoyment Rita, Fluevog; last worn here in May 2020 (Flashback there too)
  • Jacket (below) - Gap, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here in April with florals (Flashback there)

This dress is best seen in motion - the inserts at the hem make for a swingy, flippy skirt. I really wanted to twirl for someone in this.
Not that anyone saw me. I think there were 4 people in the office today.
So it was just me and my blue jammy dress.
As you might have guessed from the coat, it's much cooler out than it was last week.
I wore my PANK wool moto jacket to cover my arms, and keep me from getting chilled in the morning.

Masked up.
What will we do with all our masks when this is all over? I have close to 30 of them.

  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
I don't wear these shoes too often, but they are comfier than they look.

Silver bling:
Some favourites.

  • Filigree cuff - St. Paul's Cathedral gift shop, London
  • Bracelet - Coro, vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

My schedule is mixed up this week, so it's back to work for me tomorrow. Two whole days in a row - how strange that feels!

  1. Morning there Sheila, I don't have to pinch those earrings because I have very similar but I agree these are some of my favourite silver pieces of yours too! I adore blue so I love this jammy dress. I reckon the swirly hem adds interest. I adore those shoes too. I will be holding on to masks for a while longer. Take care Shazxx

    1. Good morning, Shaz! Ha, I love how avaricious you are over my jewelry. Good thing you don't live close, heh heh. Thank you so much - I adore the swirly, twirly hem. Yup, masks are here to stay, for sure. You take care too, my dear friend.

  2. Aww, what a lovely dress. I love that shade of blue and the print is really nice.

  3. I really like the pink jacket over the blue dress! Pink and blue is a combo I wear a lot :) While I don't have 30 masks I am keeping hold of them - being unlikely to be vaccinated this year (thanks to our terrible government) I suspect mask rules and lockdowns will continue to come and go until we get some more vaccines in this country!

    1. I liked that too, Mica - I put the jacket back on a few times when I got chilly in the office. I'll probably reduce my number of masks (there are a bunch I don't wear), but I think they are here to stay.

That really sucks about the lack of vaccines in Australia! I hope that gets sorted out soon.

  4. Imagine having to go back to work on a Monday, and realizing you'll have to work a full week! Eek! But I'm taking Friday off, so there!
That dress is a delight, and I bet it made you feel a whole lot better about Monday. Especially with your PANK jacket on top!
I'm loving the shoes too, and your filigree cuff from St. Paul's Cathedral.
I've got close to 30 masks too but I don't think I'll be ditching them any time soon. After that, perhaps we can make a souvenir patchwork thingy out of them :-) xxx

    1. I'm trying not to think about that, and to enjoy my 3 days while I have them, Ann! I'm enjoying my Friday off, for sure, though.

I love this pretty dress - it's so feminine and swooshy. It did make me feel better! Thanks so much.

Yeah, I'll be keeping mine too, aside from ones I don't like or don't wear. I love the idea of a souvenir!

  5. That is such a pretty dress and those are seriously great shoes. Kind of cowgirlish with the back dropped buckle being reminiscent of a cowboy's spurs. What a temperature difference for you. Hard to fathom going from blistering heat to needing a jacket within a week.

    1. Thanks so much, Nana! I think you know I love the cowgirl look, so I love that you see it in the shoes! Yes, we are back to our usual mid-20s, such crazy weather.

  6. Ooo, the two bracelets are lovely, especially the cuff from St Paul’s in London. Best souvenirs ever - jewelry or clothing!

The dress and shoes with that glorious plank jacket make for a perfect ensemble. Every time you add an amazing jacket to your outfits I am reminded of how the right jacket can up the ante of any outfit.

As for masks, I figure they will work well in flu season or plane flights so am keeping mine nearby. We continue to wear ours when food shopping or if we have to go into a building (post office, library, etc).

Here’s to making the most of your work week using clothing and color therapy!

    1. Thanks, Laurie! I think I've gotten clothes or jewelry on every trip I've done as an adult. Jackets can make a huge difference in making an outfit look done. I will be keeping a large percentage of mine for those very occasions. We're still recommended to wear them in indoor public spaces.

      Thanks again, my dear!

  7. That is a lovely jammy dress! The past two days we have had a humidex of 40 degrees celsius so we are getting your heat from last week.

I have made a significant $ investment in masks and I will continue to wear them on public transit or anywhere that is crowded, including airports, etc. Not getting rid of them any time soon.

    1. Thanks, Shelley! Sorry about that - I hear the "heat dome" is wreaking havoc on the prairies now. :(

I so agree. They just seem like common sense now, don't they?

  12. Great easy, peasy look that is still a stunning one. I've also been wondering about what will happen to all of our masks but I think the time that we'll be done with them is still long into the future.

    1. Thanks so much! I tend to agree - I will be wearing a mask in crowded public spaces for a while, even after my 2 weeks, post-second shot period is up.

  13. Splendidly pretty! Blue - especially these dark, inky, alluringly mysterious shades - is head-turningly stunning on you, my beautiful friend.

I plan on being a very long-term mask wearing holdout. My immune system is about as strong as a wet tissue at the best of times due to some of my chronic illnesses and the overall state of my health, so while I take great comfort in knowing that if I did contract C-19, the jabs should help to lessen its severity, I'm still not rushing to put myself at risk of falling seriously ill with this brutal disease.

Big mid-July hugs coming your way!

    1. I loved wearing this lovely dress, Autumn - it's so very feminine and pretty.

I hear you - I plan to wear them whenever I'm in a crowded public space, at least until we see BC with 80% of folks with double shots. I can't see NOT wearing one to a concert or big public event! Good for you - and they are going to be much more social acceptable too.

Thank you - big hugs back!
