Pink, Blue and Houndstooth Too

Oh, Monday, my old foe. Back to work for me, and it felt so weird - the streets are empty, hardly any cars, and I was one of four people in our entire office today. Weirder still, I left L sleeping at home - he got the day off.
It was very difficult not to bounce the bed and wake him up, heh heh.

  • Sweater - DH by Daniel Hechter, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here (3rd outfit) in November 2020 with my bark skirt
  • Skirt - Kate Spade, thrifted; purchased here for $19.95 (but it was free on a BOGO deal)
  • Shoes - Enneagram Individualist, Fluevog; last seen here with my bubble dress in July 2020
  • Coat (below) - Stop Staring!, thrifted; last worn here in September 2020

I was excited to wear this new-to-me Kate Spade houndstooth skirt.
I wasn't overly creative in my styling of it, though - this is basically a version of this Feb 2020 outfit here. Same pinks, blues and houndstooth, although only the shoes are the same.

When I did my closet swap-over, I was excited to discover that this lovely deep pink vintage angora sweater is the exact shade of these three-tone Fluevogs.
The skirt is an absolute dream to wear, I'm very happy to report.

Despite being a wrap-around, there was no gaping or opening while I sat at my desk or during my walk to/from the office.
I am wearing a dark orange vintage slip under it, just in case it was a "Hello, please look at my underwear!" kind of skirt (the worst kind). You can see a bit of the slip peeking out above.
I had to pull up the slip at the waist so that it didn't dip below the skirt's hemline.

Masked up - this is one that I had put away.
The blues matched my accessories perfectly.

Outerwear - I adore this fit-and-flare coat and am happy to have it back in my coat closet.
I didn't really need the scarf/gloves on the way home in the sunshine (ahhhh, it felt so good!), but there was frost on the ground in the morning!

Outerwear stuff:
My usual pinks. I wore the pashmina in the office all afternoon when my arms started getting cold.

  • Gloves - consignment
  • Pashmina - Portolano, thrifted
  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

The stuff:
These are one of the most comfy pairs of Fluevogs that I own - and I adore the two shades of blue with that vibrant fuchsia pink. The top anklet part is removeable.

Blue bling:
My blue crystal jewelry returns!

  • Necklace/earrings - Sherman, vintage 60s, thrifted
  • Brooch - vintage, vintage fair
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Bracelet - Coro, vintage 70s, Mom's

Although I keep my blue rings out all year 'round, my silvers and blues are spring/summer friends. The Sherman set is highly desirable to collectors - even a two-piece set like mine would sell for over $200 on Etsy (but you know I only paid $24.00 for both pieces!). The brooch is a cheaper knock-off version of Sherman, but still vintage.

Happy spring!

    1. Thanks, Nancy! I love that pattern too - is it 70s? It feels much older than that to me.

  3. This is a perfect colorful smile-inducing outfit for a Monday! I am beginning to truly appreciate your Fluevogs more and more to the point that if there was a store near me, post-pandemic I’d go in for a try-on. Alas, I believe the nearest one is in Soho in the City, too far of a trek from the suburbs.

    1. Thank you so much, Laurie! Fluevogs start to grow on you, and as you get used to the "wacky" styles, they don't seem as wacky! Next time you come out here, we'll all go into Fluevog together!

  5. As it's back to Winter here - we had highs of only 4°C today, and intermittent flurries of snow - I am actually glad I still have all my Winter stuff winking at me in my wardrobe!
Anyway, even if you weren't overly creative, I absolutely adore that outfit. Your newly thrifted Kate Spade skirt is delightful, and I love how the houndstooth works with the pink and blue, making it a very bright and Springlike outfit.
I've always swooned over that fit and flare coat, which is such a flattering shape. No wonder you're glad to have it back on rotation.
I bet you're glad you got your old foe out of the way. Today was my "Monday" :-) xxx

    1. What mercurial weather, Ann! It's like...spring! ;-P I'm glad you still have some of your wooly things to wear!

I love the skirt - not sure how long the angora sweater will last, though. The coat is amazing, isn't it? I am still boggled that it was well under $20.

Oh, you poor thing. I hope you survived!

  6. Blue and pink are two of my favourite colours. I love the way you styled it. It's freezing here and Ive just endured a hailstorm while walking the dog. Still it is sunny during most of the day.

  7. I love how you pink angora sweater matches your shoes perfectly. Your blue bling accessories and mask work perfectly with the blue details on the shoes. The skirt is fabulous as well. It is always nice to see houndstooth pattern, always so fabulous and classical at the same time. I also like the slip you wore under it. So great you were able to find the vintage blue necklace and earrings for such a good price. It is lovely to have such items in one's collection. Have a great week ahead!
We were surprised by snow this evening, but I don't think it will stick. We'll see. I must have been a comic sight in my summer dress and house slippers, rushing out and pushing our newly planted lemon and orange tree pots to the balcony door so my husband could carry them in (too heavy for me to carry). Still, it was fun to see snow. First time for us this year. It snowed in the hills and mountains but not in the city itself.

    1. I love matching pieces in an outfit, Ivana - and I do appreciate that you noticed all the details (takes an artist!). I know, what a steal on the Sherman crystals!

Yikes, I see that the UK and other parts of Europe are also getting snow! That's not out of the realm of spring, but it would be nice to get some warm weather. I giggled at your plant adventure in your slippers!

  10. Ah, but if an outfit combination is a winner, why not repeat it- as you have done to great effect here!
No gaping or opening with a wrap around skirt is a wonder to behold! I have issues with wrap arounds!
The shoes Do look so comfy!x

    1. Exactly, Kezzie! No harm in repeating, although I never repeat EXACTLY. I hate when wrap-arounds open up - it's a major beef of mine!

The shoes are amazingly comfy. Fluevogs rule!
