Tartan Again

Since I just recovered these tartan trousers from my own giveaway of them to Caro, and I just wore them to sit in a movie theatre, I thought I would give them another spin for work today. Tartan again!
I had to sit in Fire and Earthquake safety training all morning, as well as participate in an Evacuation Drill for our office building after that, so I also wanted to be very comfortable.

  • Cardigan - Sparkle & Fade, swap from Sarah; last worn here in January with vexing velour
  • Sleeveless blouse - CABi, consignment; first seen here in September 2019 with my circus skirt
  • Trousers - Cartonnier, thrifted; last worn here (5th outfit) on the weekend
  • Shoes - Sol Sana, consignment; first seen here in November 2019 with dragon scales
  • Coat (below) - Hilary Radley, thrifted; last worn here in January

I actually really liked how this top with all its splotches of colours went with the trousers - near the hem it has navy and a bit of teal, which went perfectly with the tartan.
It also helped the shoes go with the whole outfit.
But of course, I can't go sleeveless (yet) so I layered my long comfy cardi over the whole thing.
It was freezing in the training room. Brr. Are long cardis still a thing? Do I care?

Outerwear - it's been lovely and sunny, but that comes with very cold temps overnight. This was just perfect in the morning for my walk to town. We're getting close to the end of the Unsafe Ocelot and/or Polar Bear season.
I sweated on the way home - but the sun was still out and it felt lovely. Gloves off, scarf off, coat open. I did keep the hat on because it's so darned awesome.

  • Hat - M&S Collection, consignment, Powell River
  • Scarf - thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
Second wearing of these shoes, and they were excellent. I like the colour and the blocky heel. Having an elastic sling-back makes them stay on my feet and not go "slapslap" when I walk.

Simple bling:
A few faves.

  • Cuff - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Vancouver
  • Ring - Soul Flower
  • Silver/wood earrings - consignment, Powell River

  1. Long cardis are never not a thing!!! I love that one you're wearing. I had a tan cashmere one my cousin gave me I wore until it was full of holes!

    1. I tend to agree, Becky, and besides, if I like it, I should wear it. Thank you so much - this one was worn to death by Sarah, and I'm doing the same!

  3. I love that cardi with this outfit, the colours all do go so nicely together! :)

I stumbled across a skirt in an opshop I had to get - I wasn't sure if it was mustard or rust, it seems to change in different lights, I think it's more ochre (I had to google!) but I love it as I always wanted a little rust in my wardrobe, I have many times admired your cardigan, and this is like nothing else I have!

  4. So glad you got those tartan trousers back, as they look amazing on you. Especially worn with that swoon-worthy blouse and long cardigan. Such a wonderful outfit, proving yet again that comfortable and stylish can go hand in hand. I've been embracing long cardigans lately, and I think my wardrobe would benefit from one in that colour, so I'll be on the lookout. Oh, and we even't had Safe Ocelot/Polar Bear weather yet. All my warmer clothes and coats are still languishing in my wardrobe! xxx

    1. Same here, Ann - why did I ever give them away? I must check my brain! I adore long cardis; they are so nice and slouchy and comfy to wear. Wow, no real winter yet? Aw, I bet those clothes miss being worn!

  5. Love the color combo here- varying shades of blues and oranges/yellows are my favorite. Yay complementary colors! I think long cardigans will never not be a thing completely, they add a bit of a dramatic swoosh to an outfit and who doesn't like that?

    1. Thank you so much, Ashley! I know, you really can't go wrong with opposites on the ol' colour wheel. I am ALL about the dramatic swoosh.

  7. Shiela, I like how you don't care for trends. If you want to wear a long cardi, go ahead darl.

Ooo those boots are looking great. The colour and block heel are perfect. I'm just wondering... do you call them boots or something else because they're almost half boot- half shoe (haha). X

    1. Yup, I'm not going to get rid of something I love just because it's not in style anymore! Thanks, Jess! I call them sh-booties (shuh-booties), lol.

    1. Thank you, Ivana! I liked these colours together quite a lot. I like the extra layer and proportion that a long cardi gives. I like block heels for balance and walking - they're awesome.
