Another Monday, and another busy week in my future. I am feeling better today - less low than last week, at least.
- Blouse - Guess, Powell River; purchased here for $53.00 with Christmas money from my mother-in-law
- Skirt - Marc Jacobs, vintage, thrifted; last worn here for my birthday week in October 2019 with a fully gray look
- Shoes - Poetic Licence; last seen here in December 2018 with Pants Of Unusual Size
- Coat (below) - Auckie Sanft, vintage 60s, vintage fair; last worn here in December 2019
The blouse is the New Thing. Although it looks like grey stripes in pictures and from a distance, the stripes are actually small slashes of a brick-brown (see here).
I am not sure if I like it with a full bottom - maybe a slimmer bottom next time. I like the back view, though. The ties at the front droop down and feel a little bulky.
Outerwear - it was way too cold out today for this! Brr, I was freezing by the time I got to work.
- Scarf - faux Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
- Gloves - vintage, thrifted
here in December 2008 - I can't believe they are 11 years old! After a quick click-through on the "last worn here" links, looks like this is their 25th wearing! Wow, that's a lot.
I don't wear them as much as I did when I first got them, as this height is a little on the high side now for me, even with the platform. They were surprisingly fine today, which was a pleasant surprise. I was really expecting them to be horrible, and was mentally preparing myself to get rid of them. Yay! They can stay!
- Necklace - vintage 60s, gift from L
- Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
- Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
- Earrings - thrifted
And how was your Monday?
Be still my heart, that mid-century red AB rhinestone necklace is stunning! I'd wear it in a New York (or Victoria ;D)) minute!ReplyDelete
Love your whole ensemble. The grey and peach-coral play phenomenally together.
Isn't it lovely? I love pieces like that. Thanks, Autumn!Delete
I like this top, and it does look good with this skirt but I tend to agree that it may look even better with a slim bottom. The ties do not look bulky in the pics. I also noticed blossoms on the plum tree outside my window yesterday - very early! LiseReplyDelete
Thank you, Lise! I'll wear it with a slim bottom next time. I live for those blossoms - the first sign of spring!Delete
I really like the stripes on the shirt with the pleated skirt, this is a great combination even if you weren't 100% happy with the ties, I think this looks really good! :)ReplyDelete
Thanks so much, Mica! I liked the outfit overall, despite my slight issues with the ties.Delete
It's a lovely outfit and I see what you mean about the back view. Is it possible to tuck the tie ends of the shirt in to the skirt if you don't like the fullness of it? Then the front (might) look the same as the back...the shirt does look grey and white on my screen.ReplyDelete
The shoes are wonderful but look vertiginous to me! Fair play to you for managing to wear them and also for having them so long!
Thank you, Vronni! Yes, love the idea of tucking the tie ends in - I will try that next time.Delete
I was worried about the shoes, but very happy that they can stay (for now).
Love, love, love this outfit. Every piece. With a special mention for the shoes again, as I am a big shoe lover.ReplyDelete
This is a very "Greetje" outfit, isn't it? :) I know you love shoes! Thanks, my dear!Delete
It is indeed a Greetje outfit. Which is why you always have to be careful with praise and criticism. Everybody always judges from their OWN perspective. 🙃😘Delete
Oh, I totally agree! Everyone's tastes are so different. I know a lot of my readers come here to be inspired by my kooky outfits, even if they wouldn't wear most of them. I know you would wear this, top to bottom.Delete
I cannot tell what I like better: that gorgeous shirt or the pleated skirt but I can tell they look amazing together. I also like the coat you wore over this combo...so feminine. The heels are adorable. Such a perfect finishing touch. No wonder this look had admirers. It's so gorgeous. You look amazing!!!!!!!ReplyDelete
P.S. Great news about the coloured tights coming back....I love them!
Thanks, Ivana! I like both of these too. I adore my Fuzzy Flamingo coat. Aw, thank you! I know, right? Hurray for coloured tights!Delete
What a stunning coat! Looks very good with the gorgeous skirt!ReplyDelete
Glad you are feeling better, Sheila. I was a bit down in the dumps myself last week, but our little break has done me the world of good. I'm loving the pleated skirt and that blouse's print is gorgeous. It's a shame about those ties, as indeed they tend to be a bit bulky and bothersome. Good to hear coloured tights are making a comeback, although to be honest, I had no idea they were out. I haven't stopped wearing them anyway ;-) xxxReplyDelete
It's that time of year, isn't it, Ann? I get so blue when I can't see blue sky and sun. Glad you had a nice break.Delete
Yes, they are kind of weird, those ties. I like the idea of tucking them in that someone mentioned. Lol, I know, I've been wearing coloured and patterned tights forever (decades!) regardless of what's "in."
Glad you’re feeling a bit better, Shiela.ReplyDelete
I like the gathering on the back of your shirt too.
Coloured tights are back in fashion! Woohoo for us! I recently saw in a newspaper that plaid is back in fashion, which is a good thing because in a few months people will get sick of it and they’ll be more in opshops/markets for us to score and treasure, right? X
Thanks, Jess! I know, how fun to have coloured tights back! And plaid too, you say? Jeez, I wasn't aware that it was "out", lol. Yes, I love how quickly things become passe, and you can then find them in the thrifts. Score!Delete
woww, looking fabulously elegant and chic in this lovely outfit, I love how the pleated skirt echoes the shirt stripes, love the subtle colors and the delightfully matchy shoes!. Those shoes are stunning and fab bijouterie too!ReplyDelete
Aw, thank you so much. I enjoyed it as an experiment in shapes and patterns and textures.Delete
I like the blouse and I like the skirt but not so much worn together - I think the ties from the blouse and the pleats on the skirt might be too much going on in the front, and perhaps a slimmer, plain skirt might work better. That's just my two cents worth, and I appear to be in the minority.ReplyDelete
Yes, agreed, Shelley, they don't quite work for me. I'll try the blouse with a slimmer skirt next time. Or pants.Delete
The back view of the blouse is lovely, maybe more so than the front. The MJ skirt is great, and what a wonderful classic to have in your wardrobe.ReplyDelete
I agree - I feel like the ties are too low on the waist in the front. I know, the skirt is amazing - it's even better in person where you can see the details.Delete
Love the skirt- I am actually in awe that in eleven years the shoes have just been worn 25 times... it seems like very little to me. They look so new though!ReplyDelete
"Just"? That's a lot for me! I wore them more when I first got them. I don't wear my shoes out in the weather (usually), and the humidity here doesn't break them down like I've seen happen with your shoes.Delete
