One of our clients today marveled at my top/skirt combo. "How did you ever find matching stripes?"
- Blazer - Emporio Armani, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here in April with harem pants
- Blouse - Cabi, consignment; purchased here for $16.98
- Skirt - Dries Van Noten, consignment, San Francisco; last seen here in May with regret-me-not shoes
- Shoes - Chie Mihara; last worn here in August with loads of fringe
The blouse is rust, with blobs of orange, grey, mustard yellow and navy blue. The stripes on the collar are actually grosgrain ribbon, and they are mustard and deep green.
I wore the blazer buttoned like so for most of the day.
I love this fabulously cut blazer. Such quality!
I had a hair cut after work; just a good trim, a bit of length off that was the old dead stuff.
I did the front tuck only, letting the longer hem in back cover the low waistband of the skirt.
- Cuff - vintage fair
- Wood ring - thrifted
- Bracelet - Butler Fifth Avenue Collection, vintage, consignment
- Amber ring - c. 1996
- Ear-balls - Dior, consignment
My friends, I am taking some time off now. But, please, don't worry, I will return. I just need a bit of a break, and now is a good time.
Stay chill and I'll see you in about a week. Thank you so much for coming by!
I like this skirt with its bold vertical stripes.ReplyDelete
I am taking a break from blogging as well as we are planning a 2 week trip around Iceland. I am sure some photos will appear on my blog later!
I like it too, Rebecca - Dries Van Noten is one of my favourite designers. Oh, so cool - enjoy your break! Iceland sounds amazing! Can't wait to see!Delete
You look fabulous in this combo. Stripes are always fun. Wonderful skirt and top pairing. I also really like the blazer. The heels are very pretty too.ReplyDelete
Thank you so much, Ivana! I love when an outfit incorporates so many of my favourite pieces.Delete
Love the complimentary stripes and this is great print mixing! The top and skirt look so good together.ReplyDelete
Enjoy your break Sheila! You blog so much and I'm so impressed you manage to do so while also working full time and you've been blogging for so many years!
Thank you, Mica! I was really pleased at how well they worked together.Delete
And thanks again - I need a break every so often, but I do have a good solid blogging routine so that posts don't take too long.
You're so smart. I never would have combined these pieces, but it works.ReplyDelete
I experiment a lot, Ally! Thank you!Delete
Well those two pieces were certainly meant to be together!ReplyDelete
Thank you, I think so too!Delete
Your matching skills come into play once again!ReplyDelete
Have a great break - I hope it's as restful as you need and as much fun as you deserve!
Thank you, Mim! Do I have madd matchy skillz?? Lol!Delete
Thanks - it was wonderfully restful and chill and fun!
I love the echoing stripes, you're a wardrobe genius! Your hair is looking fab.ReplyDelete
Enjoy your break, have fun and see you on the other side. xxx
Thanks, Vix! It's taken me a while to get used to my natural hair - this is it!Delete
Much appreciated - it's been a lovely break.
....and enjoy your break. Sometimes taking some time off is all we need.ReplyDelete
So true, Ivana, thank you!Delete
Very clever how you matched the skirt and shirt together.ReplyDelete
Enjoy your break. X
Isn't it wonderful when wardrobe serendipity happens? The skirt matching the colour of your blouse is such a stroke of luck. And clever you for making it all happen. Love the accessorizing too. Hope you're having a relaxing break, we all need one now and again! xxxReplyDelete
It really is wonderful, Ann! It could be a very difficult blouse in most people's wardrobes, I think. The break is nearly over, but I'm ready to go back to "real life" now.Delete
Enjoy your break. Sometimes it is just good to shake up our routines, even ones we love. Then they are all the more joyful when we return.ReplyDelete
Thanks so much, Susan, yes, very true! A break every so often is needed, and appreciated.Delete
love how you created a 'faux matchy' ensemble, that's brilliant!. Love the cute shirt with its original grosgrain collar and how it enhances the colors of your skirt!, fabulous colors!ReplyDelete
Thank you so much, Monica!Delete
I would have never thought to put these two pieces together, but there you go, you are a style queen when it comes to unlikely pairings! I'm really liking the longer, natural colour hair on you. Your outfits are always so colourful that it provides a nice counterpoint.ReplyDelete
It was a lucky break to find I had such a great pairing! Thanks, Shelley! Aw, I appreciate that - I'm getting used to my natural colour!Delete
