Linen and Leaf Green

I'm taking advantage of the (slightly) cooler temps this week and wearing some not-quite-summer things.
Like a sweater! That would have been unthinkable a week ago.

  • Sweater - Tatyana, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in April with my picador skirt
  • Skirt - Andrea Jovine, thrifted; purchased here for $34.95
  • Shoes - Poetic Licence; last seen here in January with more green dots

But today it was just right, and the deep leaf green went so well with this new-to-me brown linen skirt, which is the featured item today.
I just love the cut of it, how the front "wrap" is threaded through the other side. My little "S" brooch is pinned there, just for fun.

It was good for work, although being linen it did wrinkle up from sitting. The back of the skirt only is lined, so that it looks nice from the front through the wrap - I love that detail.
I like this length, so classy!

I was worried about it gaping open when I walked, but it wasn't too bad - I did have to hold the front in the wind (it's very windy today). It was fine for sitting at my desk (or in the dentist chair).
"This post needs more cat in it."

I walked home from my late afternoon dentist appointment with one hand on the front. The underneath part of the wrap is securely sewn to the side seam right at my hip, so not much chance of it blowing wide open, but I wasn't going to risk it!

The stuff:
No, I did not walk home in these - my shoes go in my bag when I have to walk anywhere. Out came my pink runners (these).

Your eyes do not deceive you: the shoes are wool, and the dots are raised. Fuzzy shoes! I call these my Kermit shoes.

Leaf bling:
I coordinated my new-to-me vintage brooch and earrings with the outfit, and added in my other Matisse enameled cuff - it goes with the shoes.

  • Brooch/earrings - Matisse Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair - purchased here for $50 for the set, first wearing
  • Cuff - Matisse Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair

  2. I really like the green and brown together! :) I don't have much brown in my wardrobe, maybe having more of it would make me want to wear green more often? I seem to be having better luck with fitting olive into my wardrobe! :)

  6. This is a beautiful outfit--I love green and brown together. How lovely that you can wear a sweater and beautiful wool shoes in mid-June (says the person who normally lives in Arizona, but is now spending the summer in Oregon! I get that it is cooler this week!) That skirt is amazing. I also thrifted a great brown linen skirt, about a year ago, and have worn it a ton. Mine is a long skirt, fitted at the top yet nicely flared by the bottom. It really looks great with brighter colors.

  7. That skirt looks gorgeous on you, Sheila! As it's currently 28°C here, I can't imagine wearing a jumper, but it looks lovely worn with the skirt. The Kermit shoes are fabulous, and so is your bling. I especially love the vintage brooch! xxx

It's warmish here today and it hasn't rained since 8am - I think I need a drink to celebrate! xxx

  12. Perfect outfit. So very different from the previous post. I think I recognize that bit of myself in you. Like me you can sway from pencil skirt to studded boots, from demure green to PANK. And I love this outfit as much as the pank dress. It is beautiful. Accessories are so well chosen. And the shoes... ah the shoes are perfect.

  15. The shape of the skirt has some Va-Va-Voom to it - the shape reminds me of Dorothy Lamour's sarong skirt she wore in the Bob Hope/Bing Crosby films.
