Black, Pink and Versace Revisited, and Sweater Gone

All this week, I'll be revisiting some of the pieces I'd put in the giveaway pile, and re-evaluating them. In the heat of the (giveaway) moment, I pulled them back - I wasn't quite ready to let them go.
Today, I'm featuring this patterned pink and black skirt (it also has a bit of blue-grey in the pattern), and the shoes.

  • Sweater - Maggie, vintage, swapped; swapped here on the weekend
  • Skirt - H&M, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) on a December 2018 weekend for brunch out
  • Shoes - Versace, vintage 80s, vintage fair; last seen here (2nd outfit) in January 2018
  • Linen coat (below) - Tangerine Jill, thrifted; last worn here a couple of weeks ago

I wanted to wear this sweater right away - and the verdict: not keeping it. It's too baggy and oversized on me. Into the giveaway bag! Gone!
The skirt - why did I put it in the giveaway bag? It's a good length, good colours (although I am pretty limited to wearing black, white or grey with it). Sometimes I get carried away!

It's nice and full, as you can see.
Still not the right settings for my morning pictures. What's up with that graininess? Gah.

It's got pockets! The skirt, I mean.
Yeah, I'll keep it for now. I didn't pay much for it ($9.50 on consignment a couple of years ago), so I still don't feel bad about getting rid of it, but I do like it and I have room (and a hanger!) for it, so it can stay. For now!

Outerwear - not really needed so much today, as it was back to hot temps of 24!
This coat is light, and a good sunblock.

The stuff:
I'd put these shoes in the giveaway too. Seeing them in the pile of shoes made me feel regretful. Again, I didn't pay much for them ($25.00 at a vintage fair ages ago), but I don't wear them often. They were quite comfy today, so I may just put them back into rotation. They are rather badass, aren't they? Shame to not wear them, especially since I don't currently have a black heel in my collection.

Pink bling:
I still love my Sherman set!

  • Necklace and earrings - Sherman, vintage 60s, vintage fair
  • Crystal/silver ring - Soul Flower
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy

  1. I agree, the skirt and shoes should be kept - for now :). The shoes are actually really cool and edgy. Lise

    1. Thanks, Lise! And Versace...so cool! I love the uber-pointy shape.

  2. I do that, if there's a spare hanger I'll keep something until another garment appears than needs the space!
Bit of a ladylike Audrey Hepburn vibe going on with this outfit, the jumper in particular. Love the colour of the mac with it. xxx

    1. If I had this jumper in the same neckline but NOT this fuzzy acrylic/angora fabric, I would keep it. Thanks, Vix!

  3. Oohh... the skirt is so lovely. I'm imagining wearing it and then have to remind myself I can't, at least not in public. It appeals to me on a deep level.

    1. It's very girly and femme, isn't it? You would look amazing in this classic "Mad Men" style.

  4. I can hear you on the top being too wide, but it does look rather lovely with the skirt and your Sherman set. I'm seconding Vix on the Audrey Hepburn vibe! Glad you decided to keep the skirt for now. I've been known to change my mind and take things out of the giveaway pile too, wondering what made me put it in there in the first place. But I'm a very bad example, as I'm finding it real hard to part with things. xxx

    1. It's a good shape (and I love the double-V neckline), but it's just not quite right. I struggle with black sweaters!

I have been feeling like I need to change in a drastic way, but I'm not sure what that means.

  6. well, I agree with the girls and love this retro vibe and how gorgeous you look in it!, like a modern-badass Audrey!. You totally rock in this skirt, it has a fab print and shape!.
I also give a last try to some clothes before putting them in the donation bag, sometimes I can't let them go!.

    1. The girls have spoken! Thank you - ha, badass Audrey is a wonderful, love it.

It happens, but this time I took back a substantial amount of stuff. I don't regret it!

  7. The shoes are definitely a keeper! I can't believe you scored Versace shoes for $25. I have no idea how much they usually go for but that seems great! X

    1. Upon further review, I think I actually paid $40 for them - but that's still a good deal. Thanks, Jess!

  8. Glad you kept that skirt, I do not see the looseness in the sweater but you're the one wearing it.
Oh and I had consigned a pair of shoes that did not sell and i am actually thinking about bringing them back into the closet.

    1. Yeah, I didn't like the fit of it. Oh no! At least you can take them back.
