It's been a long day, starting at 5:30am - I had to be at work for 7:30am as my work was offering some sort of "lite" medical health checks for employees, and Corporate (in its wisdom) decided this should start at 8am. So be there early for the nurse, Ms. Sheila.
It's still dark out! I left the house at 7am, and this is a little earlier than that. Too early!- Velvet vest - no label, thrifted; last seen here, zipped up, in November 2017
- Silk shirt - Joe Fresh, thrifted; last worn here with a different vest in January
- Skirt - Talbots, thrifted; last seen here in November 2017 with ha! This same shirt.
- Boots - Ishshoes Chatterbox, Fluevog; last worn here in January with urban camo
- Coat (below) - Danier Leather, thrifted; last seen here in February
I had a bit of an adventure this morning - I thought I left my travel coffee mug at my old office (I have to pop in and pick up the mail for a while), so I dashed back there, only to have the front door knock me in the nose.
So there I am, standing on a street corner in downtown, gushing blood all over the sidewalk ("not the clothes, not the shoes," I was thinking). The lovely lady at 7-Eleven very kindly grabbed me a wad of paper towels so that I could make it back to the office...where I found my mug in the lunchroom.
But my most exciting part of my day was dashing out for a quick cup of tea with reader Erin! She dropped me an email a few months ago to say she was coming to town...would I be interested in meeting up to say hello? Well, heck yes! We set the date and had a lovely time - Erin, next time we'll plan for a little shopping trip and lunch!
I had to pick a good outfit to wear - must make a good impression on a valued reader! I'd forgotten that I'd already worn this top and skirt together before, but the addition of the long grey-ish velvet vest made this outfit for me.
Oh, and the electric blue velvet boots (which GLOW blue in the office lights).
Outerwear - not my most inspired, but it was early, dammit!
Pink leather gloves for fun.
- Gloves - consignment
The stuff:
I gave Erin the pre-blog rundown on all the things I was wearing - she got to check everything out first. The boots were admired.
The stuff:
Some sparkly things.
- Necklace - thrifted
- Earrings - c. 1996
We asked one of the other coffee shop patrons to take our picture - here we are!
So awesome to meet you, Erin! I hope you have a great time while you're here in town this week!

DeleteA chipped tooth last week and now a bloody nose this week - what a pain! I have meet-up envy too, but hey that's not your fault. I need to start a little savings fun for a big trip across the pond before I'm too old to travel.
ReplyDeleteBlue velvet boots - be still my beating heart!
