Lemon, Stripes and Shiny Silver

Another short day today for me, as I had to dash off at the end of the day to go get my new crown-to-be matched to my existing teeth. And...that's it for tooth talk today.

Clothes!
I'd intended on wearing this jacket over my outfit all day, but it's a scorcher out there.

  • Jacket - Smoking Lily; last worn here with the same skirt in May
  • Cashmere sweater - J. Crew, consignment; purchased here for $26.00
  • Skirt - Dries Van Noten, consignment, San Francisco; last seen here with black in May
  • Shoes - Lucky Brand, consignment, Powell River; last worn here with all the buttons in August

Good thing I took some pictures of just the skirt and sweater.
I struggle to find a good yellow top - they're all see-through! I had to wear a full cream camisole under this one to avoid every detail of my bra showing through this fine cashmere.

You can see a lot of my back tattoos through it. Seriously, can we please make some yellow tops that are not sheer?
Loving this skirt - I love how the stripes are offset just so on the extra layer.

With the jacket.
The collar tends to flop around a bit. Sometimes I pin that (with a safety pin - KLASSY), but today I did not.

Pockets are good.
The jacket is a thick stretch cotton that's been brushed with shiny metallic silver. It's a space jacket.

The stuff:
Great clompin' clodhoppers! Probably close to the last wearing of these before I pack them away.

Silver bling:
I'm fond of this rattly necklace.

  • Necklace - The Bay, c. 2008?
  • White gold earrings - Frances Jewelers, 10th anniversary gift from L
  • Turquoise/silver ring - local
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

  4. I love that jacket, and of course like the colour combo with the skirt and top together! I have the same sheerness issue with white tops - I'm clumsy and frequently spill things so I don't have many, but whenever I do want to buy one I'm usually put off by it being sheer (in the heat most of the time layering something underneath is not a valid option!)

    1. Thanks, Mica! What is it with sheer tops?? I guess manufacturers are just using cheap fabric. I agree - it's not always ideal to wear a layer under them!

  8. Yellow and blue are figuring strongly in my Greek travel wardrobe - I'm delighted to see that i'm in excellent company! Today's dress hem is also held together with safety pins - twin KLASSY!

  9. Dries van Noten is the best. I would have been a sucker for those stripes as well. I love something like that. It also reminds me of the new dress Sue sewed. Also with stripes in betweenon different parts.

  10. Love this outfit, Sheila! Of course, that Dries Van Noten skirt is the true star of it. I'm always feeling a bit proud when you're wearing anything by my fellow country man ;-) I seem to have the same thing with yellow tops. Mine are either too warm for this time of year or see-through. I'm loving your silver bling too! xxx

  11. That is such a cool skirt! I've been looking for a nice red, and/or yellow summer top to wear with a pair of patterned wide leg pants but anything I find is either too sheer or too skimpy to wear to work. We had a brief break in the hot weather (it was only 12 degrees on Sunday) but the humidity is coming back, so no packing away summer clothes for me yet.

    1. Yes, what is up with the sheer and skimpy tops? Ugh, good luck, I hope it cools off for you soon!
